It is the appearance of being without a body. Thus it is said. In detail, it should be understood in the Treasury of Luminous Light. The key points of mind and wisdom are: the nature of mind is illusion. The definition is that mind is mind because it focuses on objects. The divisions are: pure mind that tends towards liberation and is non-conceptual, and impure mind that conceptualizes samsara. The nature of wisdom is to identify the opposite of awareness from the aspect of the Dharmakaya. The definition is that it is wisdom because it is the knowledge that has always been present in the Dharmakaya. The divisions are: the wisdom of the base, whose nature is the three: essence, nature, and compassion; the wisdom that grasps characteristics, such as the realm of phenomena, which are five; and the wisdom that pervades all objects, such as the two: as it is and as many as there are. In the Prasangika it says: The key points of mind and wisdom are: What is called mind is illusion. Its nature is entering and pervading. It is the basis of all memory and thought. The divisions are pure and impure. The definition is that thought gives rise to the object of memory. On what does the mind focus, and with what does it focus? On what does it focus, and for what does it focus? Wisdom is not conceptual. Its nature is the meaning of self-luminous essence. The divisions are considered to be three. The definition is the meaning of being present from the beginning. Knowing it in this way is wisdom. Thus it is said. In the Pearl Rosary it says: Mind is because it arises from aggregation, and is also stained by impurity. The alaya consciousness and so on, because they become the number of impurities, therefore the difference between mind and wisdom should be known by the wise. Mind is the basis of all habits. It is the impurity of sentient beings. Grasping objects is mind. Therefore, it is the nature of samsara. Separating from mind is Buddhahood. The impurity of all sentient beings is exhausted. Beings go by mind. Without it, they cannot go. Therefore, beings are like a wandering wheel. The heart is free from all movement. It is not like a stone. It is the clear light of knowing and awareness. It burns all conceptual thoughts. Wisdom itself consumes like fire. It is like the sky itself. It is emptiness, clarity, and awareness. Therefore, wisdom shows as light. Unseparated compassion arises naturally. It pervades and explains everything, completing all dharmas. Memory itself is without memory. Wisdom is free from the basis of memory. Wisdom is like this: the pure wisdom of the base, grasping characteristics, and objects.

pervades. Thus it is said. The detailed order of these should be understood as explained in the Supreme Vehicle Jewel. Therefore, ascertaining the difference between the ālaya and the dharmakāya, mind and wisdom, is the crucial point of distinguishing the Great Perfection Heart Essence, so it is extremely important to distinguish the differences. Within these categories, there exists the distinction of determining cause and effect, so it is taught: In this nature, there is no searching for cause and effect, there is no view, meditation, etc. It speaks of the way to negate the absence of beginning and end. Otherwise, the only skill that scatters outward from the nature is that, various plays appear, the nine existences appear, so never say that there is no cause and effect. The nature of the dharmakāya wisdom is nakedly present, so from the perspective of the ultimate truth, cause and effect, acceptance and rejection, practice, etc., are shown to be without inherent nature. However, from the ālaya and its power, many consciousnesses arise and appear in various ways in the cycle of existence. If one says that there is no cause, no effect, etc., for all phenomena with conceptualization, then one will fall into nihilistic views like the materialists. All conditioned phenomena of samsara appear from the power of cause, condition, dependent origination, and illusion. How does it appear? Dependent origination, arising from conditions, conditioned phenomena are countless and inconceivable. The illusion of samsara, peace, and happiness are also countless and inconceivable. All of these are dependent origination from the collection of causes and conditions. Pure realms and happiness, as well as impure realms and suffering, are all pervasive like the expanse of space, and are all appearances of dependent origination of their respective causes and conditions, like illusions. Although the essence is emptiness, the appearance of phenomena is the power of dependent origination, just as horses and cows appear from the mantras and substances of illusion. From the Sutra of the Noble Collection of Precious Qualities: The nature of the realm of space is also endless. The wisdom that guides the world is also endless. The nature of the realm of sentient beings is also endless. And from the King of Samādhi: Actions done and accumulated will never be destroyed, and in samsara, black and white fruits will ripen. And from the Heap of Jewels: From virtuous actions, happiness arises, and countless Buddhafields will be seen. From non-virtuous actions, various sufferings.
