Since mind and intellect are not established, the delusion of movement naturally ceases. Since the two stains of subtle and coarse do not exist, the delusion of arising conditions naturally ceases. Since the agent and the action do not exist, where does the delusion of grasping objects exist? Since the object and the senses do not exist, the delusion of grasper and grasped does not exist. Thus it is said. In the *Thal Gyur* (Refutation of Extremes), it says: "So-called delusion is pure from the very beginning, it cannot be transformed into non-delusion. Non-existent appearance is a dharma that cannot be seen, fabricated thoughts cease by themselves. It does not appear as an object from delusion, since the original radiance of self-nature has not moved, all dharmas are equally of one taste. Having abandoned grasping and thought, one is primordially enlightened, it cannot be altered or transformed." Thus it is said. Thus, when one realizes that external objects do not exist, and the nature of reality, free from grasping, is pure like the sky, establishing that the internal grasping is without foundation and support is as follows: When a yogi looks back at their pure mind, the awareness without a basis is free from names. It cannot be pointed out or expressed, and the stages of view, meditation, and conduct are abandoned. It is relaxed, open, and expansive. Without understanding practice, there are no session breaks or biases. Everything is free, open, and without boundaries. Thus, by looking at one's own mind, one transcends the limits of essence and recognition, and awakens in the self-nature of the unconditioned sky. The nature of self-purifying awareness is called Dharmakaya, which is free from the extremes of existence and non-existence. In the *Thal Gyur* (Refutation of Extremes), it says: "Where does the root of all dharmas, which have no basis, exist? The mind free from existence and desire, unconditioned by nature, transcends expression, and the deluded thoughts of agent and action cease. There is no dharma, no Buddha, and no sentient beings, no self, no ego, no grasper and no grasped. It cannot be expressed in words, and there is not even an abiding called 'mind.' Because it does not exist, the source of memory and consciousness is exhausted in the appearance of emptiness. In the uncreated nature of reality, it is very wonderful that there is no arising. In the Dharmakaya that has no arising, it is very wonderful that there is no going or coming. In the awareness that has no place of wandering, there is the nature of reality that has no place of arising." Thus it is said. The awareness that realizes the non-duality of grasper and grasped is the great spontaneously accomplished, unbiased state, like this: Without attachment to body, objects, and appearances, equally spread out in the vast expanse of the sky, there is no self-grasping as an internal dharma. The essence of the awareness that realizes that there is no grasper and grasped is called self-born wisdom.

Moreover, it is not desired to say "self-knowing, self-illuminating" like the Yogacara-cittamatrins. Because there is no inside or outside, it is not established as the mind within. Because there is no self or other, it is not established as merely one's own awareness. Because there has never been grasping and being grasped, it is not established as being separate from the two. Because it is not in the realm of feeling and awareness, it is not established as the absence of both experiences. Because there is no mind and mental events, it is not established as one's own mind. Because there is neither clarity nor non-clarity, it is not established as self-illuminating. Because it transcends awareness and non-awareness, it cannot even be designated as mere awareness. This is called "Great Perfection Beyond Extremes." Although it is expressed with symbolic terms such as self-arisen wisdom, bodhicitta, dharmakaya, spontaneously accomplished great expanse, and naked self-illuminating awareness, these are merely designations for the sake of understanding. One should realize it as the great inexpressible reality. If it is not understood in this way, but instead one clings to the meaning of the words, one will not find any difference between it and the self-knowing, self-illuminating, and the two-in-one-ness of grasper and grasped of the Cittamatra school. Here, those who have not trained their intelligence and want to babble about this, because they hold these two to be the same, they merely speak with manifest pride, saying, "We know this self-awareness!" According to the system of the Great Perfection of Naturalness, most of the ways of measuring freedom from extremes are similar to the Madhyamaka-prasangika. In Madhyamaka, emptiness, emptiness like the sky, is taken as the basis for calculation. Here, awareness, which is primordially pure, naked, clear, unestablished, and unceasing, is taken as the basis. Then, the dharmas that arise from it and its state are measured as being liberated from extremes, like the sky. As the Prasangika says: Because not abandoning the many, it is devoid of terms; Because one is not established, its nature is pure; Because its nature is pure, all meanings are accomplished. The pure nature and the ground, the ground of samsara and nirvana, accumulation and essence are without, Yama, it is beyond expression. And again: Because there is no action, its characteristics are empty; Because the object of expression has ceased, it does not abide in extremes; Because defilements are exhausted, it is not substantial; The source of memory has ceased, the essence is clear; Clear awareness does not conceive the limits of objects; Because it is beyond sound, it is true and without words; All dependencies are exhausted. As the Ornament of Precious Jewels says: In the realm of dharma, there is no practice or non-practice; Because the nature of space is primordially pure; The dharmakaya itself has no characteristics of things.
