Knowing that it appears as a play of non-existence, the yogis who realize the purity and equality of the essence itself do not abide in the dharmas of samsara and nirvana, as stated in 'The Complete Lion's Leap': 'In one realization, samsara and nirvana are complete. Without clinging, self-appearance is free from dharma.' And in 'The Jeweled Garland': 'It is not the object of appearance and appearing. It is not non-appearance, all dharmas are completely pure.' So on. At the very moment of the appearance of the Dharmakaya, non-existence arises from non-existence, thus it is shown as a mere image of emptiness appearing as non-existence. It appears in non-existence, and various appearances arise. In emptiness, there is nothing, but it spreads extensively to the edges and the center. Without grasping and being grasped, there is attachment to 'I' and 'mine'. Without a root, it appears through lifetimes. Without negation and affirmation, one engages in happiness and suffering, acceptance and rejection. If one thinks about the meaning of the nature of reality, the appearance of phenomena is extremely wonderful, the essence transcends existence and non-existence, yet the way it appears manifests in various ways. Just like dreaming of self and others, happiness and suffering, wealth, good and bad, acceptance and rejection, past and future lives, etc. in a dream. In reality, they do not exist, but at that time, they are grasped as existing, thus the mind is afflicted. Grasping non-existence as reality is called acting in illusion, as stated in the Sutra of the Noble Jewel Garland: 'All dharmas are like the Sugata, those with childish minds grasp at signs, in the world, they act in dharmas that do not exist.' Thus it is said. Now, for those who have not arisen from external and internal dharmas, the way to realize it through purity equal to space must be determined, which is divided into two. First, for what appears in the external world, it is determined as the form of illusion and emptiness without a basis. Looking outward, the appearance of beings is extremely wonderful, not true, but clinging to it as true, it seems true but is not. Not mistaken, but clinging to it as mistaken, it seems mistaken but is not. Without certainty, but holding it as certain, it seems certain but is not. Transcending yes and no, but holding it as yes, it seems yes but is not. Unreasonable, but

Because of clinging to what is agreeable, the mind is seduced by various trivial realms. Meaningless awareness continues in a momentary stream. Days and nights, months, years, and lifetimes pass. By clinging to duality, beings are deceived. Because momentary consciousness does not recognize its own nature, it becomes a continuous delusion, and time passes. From many moments, one is deluded into a short time; from a short time, into days and nights; from days and nights, into months; and from months, into years. Because of the habit of external objects, beings are deluded. This is because the rootless awareness, the Dharmakaya, is pure like the sky, and resides within oneself, but "in the state of not knowing one's own nature, it is only a sudden cause." The "String of Pearls" says: "The Dharmakaya is like the sky, suddenly obscured by clouds of thoughts. Even the nature of non-delusion appears as a state of delusion in the mind. Momentary with causes and conditions." The "Precious Garland" says: "The three paths have no beginning, no end, and no middle. The cycle of samsara is like a fire wheel, mutually dependent. This causal samsara revolves in this way." It is like this. Therefore, beings cling to the self-characteristics of delusional appearances, while the same appearances appear to yogis as mere illusory games. This is also because of the key point that delusion is rootless and baseless. That is to say, the self-nature of awareness is the primordial purity, beyond delusion and non-delusion, like the sky. And the self-appearance of this is the self-luminous, nakedly pure Dharmakaya, called the groundless, completely pure great appearance. Its essence, whether awareness or non-awareness, samsara or nirvana, etc., is not established in anything, and it remains empty now. Yogis realize this, and do not stray from its state. Therefore, the delusional appearances of external objects, the illusory empty forms, dissolve into the expanse of the ground appearance Dharmata, and are called yogis whose samsara is nameless and pure like the sky. As the "String of Pearls" says: "Although the realm appears in this way, in the primordial purity of the beginning, it is impossible to say delusion. Likewise, what is non-delusion? Therefore, delusion is originally pure. For that great ground appearance itself, there is no imputation of non-awareness, therefore the establishment of delusion does not exist. Because it is not universally imputed as mind, there is no name of defilement delusion. Because there is no collection of names and letters, there is no imputed delusion. Because it is not imputed as the name of Dharma, there is no name of delusion imputed by mind."
