Without practicing in the sandy ground, do not contemplate with discursive thoughts, rest in equanimity. Thus it is said. In this tantra, the self-arisen wisdom of mind-essence, free from the extremes of elaboration, is called Bodhicitta. In the context of composing verses, it is also referred to as mind. As it is said: "Apart from mind, there is no Buddha, I, the All-Creating One, have not revealed it." Thus it is. The mind that scatters towards objects is called the mind of skillful activity or play, but it is not the actual Bodhicitta. Therefore, it is very important to know the difference between these two. The Precious Treasury of the Dharmadhatu states: "Appearing in the realms of existence and peace." This is the commentary on the second chapter. Having thus shown the nature of Bodhicitta, now we explain how all phenomena are gathered into the nature of the Great Perfection within that state. All are gathered into the all-encompassing Bodhicitta. Since there is no dharma apart from Bodhicitta, all dharmas are the nature of Bodhicitta. All dharmas arise from the state of Bodhicitta and appear within that state. Just as all containers and contents are gathered within the state of space, and just as the taste of all molasses is gathered into the taste of one molasses, the essence of samsara and nirvana, and the way in which the intentions of all Buddhas are gathered, are shown. As it is said in the Kunjed Gyalpo: "In me, the All-Creating King, the meaning of the intentions of all Buddhas of the three times is gathered. In this nature of mine, body is gathered, speech is gathered, mind is gathered." And, "In the nature of the All-Creating King, as the unborn is shown, all Buddhas are unborn, therefore the gathering of the unborn Dharmata is shown. In the nature of the All-Creating King, as the Dharmata is without cessation, the Dharmata of all the Buddhas mentioned above has no cessation, therefore the gathering of Dharmata is shown." Thus it is. Such Bodhicitta should be understood through three aspects: example, meaning, and sign. First, the example: The illustrative example of Bodhicitta is like space. Since mind has no cause and no place of origin, it is non-abiding, inexpressible, and beyond thought. It is only represented as an example by the expanse of space. But even the example itself cannot be said to be "this," so how can there be thought or expression about the meaning of the example? This should be understood as an example of self-existing purity. The self-arisen wisdom of mind-essence is without substance or characteristics.

Emptiness and clarity are free from elaboration, and there is no specific designation of 'this' or 'that.' Although it is represented as being like the sky, upon examination, the sky itself, which serves as the example, lacks color, shape, and any identifiable characteristic. If it cannot be established as a phenomenon to be exemplified, then the meaning represented by that example—the purity of mind's nature—is not established anywhere. Therefore, it should be understood as merely an example representing something that cannot be specifically designated for the time being. From 'The Lion's Perfected Power': 'Equality is free from substance, the Buddha's intention is, Wisdom's self-appearance, the Dharmakaya is like the sky. Non-elaboration awareness is equal to the edge of the sky. Conduct is in the realm of emptiness, without grasping, it is liberated in its own place. Intention abides in its own place, in the state of meditative equipoise. The insubstantial self-appearance is the reality of all mandalas. Immutable self-enlightenment is the realm of all dharmata.' Also, from 'The All-Creating King': 'O Great Bodhisattva, all phenomena are of the nature of the sky. In the sky, there is no self-nature. In the sky, there is no example. In the sky, there is no measure. The meaning of all phenomena, without exception, should be understood in this way.' Thus, the meaning closely represented by example is the self-aware, sky-like Bodhicitta, which is not an object of thought but transcends representation and expression. It is the self-luminous, unwavering, clear, and vast expanse. Uncreated, spontaneously accomplished, without wide or narrow, high or low, the center of the Dharmakaya's Bodhicitta is vast. The self-arisen wisdom is spontaneously accomplished as the heart of the Dharmakaya, and therefore is free from thought, speech, and elaboration. From 'Self-Arisen': 'The thought-free Dharmakaya is free from elaboration. In the Buddha's wisdom, the nature of reality, The non-conceptual Buddha's essence is clear. In the ungrasping, self-pure Greatness, The awareness of Vajrasattva is clear. In the clear, pure, empty wisdom, The signless nature of reality is clear.' Also, from 'The Root Tantra of the Sound Exceeding': 'Liberated from action, it is perfected by perfection. Liberated from extremes, it does not abide in the center. Completely perfected, it is free from dedication and aspiration. Without remainder, it is not a part. Not one, the two extremes are exhausted. Not appearing as many, it transcends the one. Inexpressible, it is the basis of words. The meaning of the essence of insubstantial emptiness, Not falling into a direction, is the meaning of the view.' Also, from 'The All-Creating King': 'This view and conduct of Great Perfection, Is not like cause, effect, and practice. This view and conduct, Bodhicitta, Is like the sky.'
