The garuda, symbolizing the absence of contraction and expansion in its own abode, does not conceive of awareness existing within the realm of emptiness. The lion, symbolizing the absence of fear and hope, does not conceive of suppressing something as being a suppressor. The ocean, symbolizing clarity, does not conceive of clarity as being profound. The sky, symbolizing emptiness of substantial characteristics, does not conceive of it as being utter annihilation. The earth, symbolizing the basis for qualities and the root of the east, does not conceive of a relationship of support and supported on top of awareness, because the appearance of samsara and nirvana and awareness are beyond the extremes of existence and non-existence, and because of the arising of the ground and appearances, and so on. Now, explaining the nature of the innate, natural state: In nature, samsara and nirvana are impossible, naturally inherent. Good and bad, acceptance and rejection are impossible, naturally inherent. Abandonment and attainment, grasping and clinging are impossible, naturally inherent. The five poisons of affliction are impossible, naturally inherent. Limitation and bias are impossible, naturally inherent. Skill and planning are impossible, naturally inherent. Slightly labeling is not obstructed, naturally inherent. Even though various terms are applied, the ultimate nature of awareness, for the ultimate truth, transcends establishment, refutation, and expression, because samsara and nirvana, good and bad, acceptance and rejection, abandonment and attainment, afflictions, limitations, bias, skill, play, the place of planning, and planning itself have never been established. As it is said in the Prasangika: "The nature of phenomena, the sphere, and self-nature, motionlessness, emptiness, and the exhaustion of thought, the ground perfected, the path, and the absence of result, the nature of phenomena is not created by anyone. Pure by nature, free from elaboration, different conceptualizations beyond the realm, the arising of words, confusion, is cut off." And in the Klong Drug Pa: "Free from the elaboration of many symbols, beyond all examination of non-phenomena, there is no Buddha and no sentient being." If examination is not obstructed, why are there no skill and planning? Explanation: Self-arisen wisdom, phenomena exhausted, name also absent, skill and play, whatever arises, the ground is absent. No bondage, no liberation, the natural state is inherent, the term 'liberation' is labeled, self-dissolving, without trace. Everything is and everything is not, examination is not contradictory, primordially liberated, therefore it is expressed in words. Merely naming due to non-establishment, name and meaning have no relationship.

Therefore. The meaning is, if the essence is non-existent and the name cannot be found anywhere, then since name and meaning are not established, what connection can be determined? Awareness, its power, manifestation, and self-liberation are merely convenient assumptions for understanding words when not examined. If awareness itself has no essence, how can the place of arising, the arising itself, and the various manifestations actually exist? However, it is precisely from this non-existence that the appearance does not cease, and when it appears, such assumptions are like illusions. The magician, his mantra, and the manifestation of the mantra—the three illusory horse, cow, and elephant—if not examined and analyzed, appear without ceasing, one arising from another. Similarly, the power of awareness and the manifestation arising from that power, the appearance of samsara and nirvana, are merely appearances when not examined and analyzed. If analyzed, the non-existence of the horse and cow becomes clear, the sound of the mantra is emptiness without trace, the magician's body is indivisible into particles, and the mind is separated into one and many, thus not established. Likewise, all of samsara and nirvana, the container and its contents, which appear as manifestations, are clearly seen as non-existent. Power is self-luminous emptiness, and awareness is transparent and unobstructed, the exhaustion of phenomena, beyond the limits of one and many, transcending the realm of thought and expression. When not examined and analyzed, if one thinks that this appearance arises from the power of ability and is therefore knowable, we certainly do not approve of such a wrong understanding. The illusory horse and cow appear as the magician's manifestation, but they are not the magician. If the illusory horse and cow were the magician, then when the illusion appears, the magician would also be non-existent, and before the appearance exists, the magician would also be non-existent. The magician does not change with the presence or absence and the destruction or non-destruction of the illusion, so these two are not the same essence. The appearance and one's own mind are also not the same essence, because the appearance does not follow me, nor do I follow the appearance, so they are not the same essence. If it is said that since it is a manifestation of awareness, the appearance should follow me, then the general appearance does not follow the individual appearance. Even without me, mountains and other things remain in place, which is clear. The individual appearance of the mountain, merely a manifestation of appearance, that person dies
