The so-called "appearance and existence" refers to the outer world appearing as the image of the five elements, and the inner sentient beings appearing as the nature of various happiness and suffering arising from karma and afflictions. The inner mind appears with the elaboration of desire, and the mind of the higher realms appears as the aspect of non-conceptual, non-elaborate samadhi. All of this appears like a dream, but in reality, it is not established. Therefore, it is originally non-existent, merely a clear appearance. Thus, the completely liberated characteristic is shown to be emptiness. As it is said in "Self-Liberation of Wisdom": "Likewise, mind and phenomena, are all liberated in their own nature." And as it is said in "The Great Garuda": "Merely naming the six realms is empty. Emptiness is primordially liberated, the key is non-action, which is the natural state. There is no place to go, it is a naturally unconditioned state." Self-appearance arises like a dream, like an illusion, therefore happiness and suffering, purity and equality, are primordially liberated in the absence of a basis, and are taught as: Happiness is primordially liberated, liberated in the nature of reality; suffering is primordially liberated, liberated in equality and vastness; the middle is primordially liberated, liberated in the equality of space as the Dharmakaya; purity is primordially liberated, liberated in the basis of purity as emptiness; impurity is primordially liberated, liberated in complete liberation as great liberation. In the nature of dreams, happiness, suffering, the middle, the pure Buddha-fields, and the impure delusions of sentient beings, all natures abide in the absence of a basis. Therefore, the cause of the initial arising is emptiness, hence it is primordially liberated. The nature of appearance is merely appearance, without cessation, therefore it appears like an image, and merely appearing, it appears as emptiness. The nature of the present abiding is emptiness, hence it is liberation of abiding. The appearance of the play of compassion does not cease, therefore cessation is liberated in causelessness and conditionlessness, hence the final going and coming appears as emanation bodies. Without cessation, it is purified in the eight similes of illusion, hence it is liberation of the end, appearance and emptiness are liberated in the play of illusion. As it is said in "Self-Liberation of Wisdom": "Likewise, all phenomena of characteristics, are liberated in the state of no characteristics. All phenomena of created things, are liberated in the state of uncreated emptiness. All phenomena of ungrasping self-appearance, are liberated in the state of pure emptiness." And as it is said in "The Great Garuda": "Things in space cannot be relied upon, the mind is originally without bias. To whom does the appearance of samsara and the lower realms become established? It is untrue, like a dream, like an illusion, like a city of gandharvas. The power of false appearance to be true is impossible here." Likewise, the samadhi of the noble ones

The King Sutra says: Just as in the midst of many people, magicians conjure up various forms such as horses, elephants, and chariots, if one examines them as they are, they cannot be found. Know all dharmas to be the same. Also, the Intermediate Mother Sutra says: Subhuti, all dharmas are like dreams and illusions, and nirvana is also like dreams and illusions. If there is a dharma greater than nirvana, it is also like a dream and an illusion. What is greater than nirvana is self-arisen wisdom, because whether or not that sphere is realized becomes the basis of samsara and nirvana. The Doha says: Mind itself is the seed of all, in which the flow of existence and nirvana arises, and which grants the desired fruit. I prostrate to the mind that is like a wish-fulfilling jewel. Also, the All-Creating King Tantra says: The nature of bodhicitta is the essence of all dharmas, without defilement because it is unborn and completely pure, without deviation because it is free from the path of practice, and without the need to seek because it is spontaneously accomplished from the beginning. As it is said. Because the path of practice is pure like the sky, it shows that the original liberation beyond doing and seeking is: Ground and path are originally liberated, liberated from arising and completion; view and meditation are originally liberated, liberated without acceptance or rejection; conduct is originally liberated, liberated in Samantabhadra; fruition is originally liberated, liberated without hope or fear; samaya is originally liberated, liberated in the great dharmata; recitation is originally liberated, liberated from speech; samadhi is originally liberated, liberated in the inconceivable. Because these are not in the nature of awareness, although ground, path, view, and meditation are practiced in the essence of awareness, because the agent and the act are inherently contradictory, one should realize the great non-doing of original liberation. As the Garland of Pearls says: Without being transformed by conduct, appearances are liberated; without seeking through meditation, phenomena are liberated; without examining through view, eternalism and nihilism are liberated; without being bound by fruition, one's own mind is liberated; appearances are originally vast and spontaneously present. Also, the Great Garuda says: Emptiness is originally liberated, the key point of non-action is itself. There is no place to go, it is originally in an unaltered state. The essence of spontaneous abundance is originally the appearance of objects, so reciting mantras, asceticism, and meditation obscure the essence itself. Transforming letters, virtuous actions of body and speech, etc., harm the key point of original liberation and self-purification.
