Moreover, the five aggregates are purified as deities. In the Wisdom Accomplishment Tantra, it says: Form is Vairochana. Feeling is Ratnasambhava. Perception is Amitabha. Formation is Amoghasiddhi. Consciousness is Akshobhya. Furthermore, the five elements are purified as the five mothers, also from the same tantra: The five elements are the essence of the five mothers. Aggregates, sense bases, and elements, all of them, all purified are Buddhafields. Also, in the Magical Net Secret Essence, it says: All phenomena are primordially enlightened, thus the Tathagata knows. In terms of conduct, the exoteric tradition does not go beyond the two, acceptance and rejection. In the esoteric tradition, within the nature of purity, equality, and illusion, in the state of deities and palaces, such as offering deities, and offering protectors as explained in the context of each mandala, being in accordance with the nature of reality, purifying afflictions, and so forth, is superior. Regarding the samadhi of mind, in the exoteric tradition, cultivating shamatha and vipashyana requires prolonged effort in holding the mind, requiring great effort. In the esoteric tradition, with the arising stage of forms, conceptual elaborations are pacified, and in the formless completion stage, wisdom arises merely by controlling the essential points of the channels and winds, therefore it is superior. Regarding the cause, in the exoteric tradition, it is believed that ultimate truth is realized from the preliminary of conventional truth, which is the object to be created and the creator. In the esoteric tradition, the pure cause or the cause of freedom from elaboration, forcefully introducing the wisdom of one's own abiding state and meditating on it, one enters the realization of ultimate truth in this very moment, therefore it is superior. Regarding the path, in the exoteric tradition, the accumulation of merit and wisdom is done alternately, therefore the five paths cannot be traversed in kalpas. In the esoteric tradition, one enters the path of non-dual wisdom, therefore it is traversed quickly, so it is superior. Regarding the result, in the exoteric tradition, it is believed that it will occur later after a long time. In the esoteric tradition, it is believed to be spontaneously accomplished in one's own state right now, therefore it is superior. Regarding the ground, in the exoteric tradition, it is believed to be eleven grounds with the distinction of what to abandon and what to cultivate in sequence. In the esoteric tradition, the realm of reality of non-dual essence, spontaneously accomplished, and the two grounds of pure and equal great wisdom, the supreme clear light, and the pure ground of spontaneously accomplished supreme Dharma, the great pure result, there are three grounds. Or, on top of the grounds of the cause, adding the twelfth ground of the stainless lotus, and the thirteenth Vajradhara ground, and so forth, it is superior, secret.

From the Heart Essence: There are thirteen distinctions of the ground. Regarding time, the characteristic path cannot be accomplished through three countless eons, etc. However, by diligently practicing mantra and maintaining pure samaya, accomplishment can be achieved in this very life. As stated in the 'Prophetic Teachings': 'In countless eons, what the Buddhas know, mantra practitioners attain in a single moment, achieving perfect enlightenment in one lifetime.' Thus it is said. Regarding enjoyment, the characteristic path accomplishes by abandoning desirable qualities, whereas mantra utilizes them as aids. As stated in the 'Vajra Arrangement': 'Those enjoyments, the five desirable qualities, which are abandoned and become wondrous, mantra with skillful means is the supreme companion; those with fortune should fully utilize them.' Thus it is said. Regarding yoga, in the characteristic path, one meditates on emptiness like the sky, without any focus, and in the post-meditation period, one uses the yoga of illusion as the path. However, mantra uses the indivisible, inconceivable yoga as the path, thus it is superior. Regarding accomplishing the benefit of oneself and others, the characteristic path only provides slight temporary benefit and cannot accomplish great things. In mantra, one pacifies famine by causing rain to fall, and accomplished yogis cause rain of food, drink, jewels, etc., to fall, pacifying disease and conflict, bringing auspiciousness to the surrounding area—this is benefiting others. Through the inconceivable two stages of generation and completion, each moment of inner realization and samadhi causes realization to increase further and further—this is benefiting oneself, thus it is superior. Regarding view, the characteristic path only knows the vehicle of the cause, whereas mantra definitively establishes the great secret of the result. As stated in the 'Vajra Peak': 'The nature of all mantras is the mind of all Buddhas; it accomplishes the essence of Dharma and is perfectly endowed with the sphere of Dharma.' Thus it is said. Because there are no difficult practices, the extremes of hardship are abandoned, and great results are accomplished with little effort, it is also superior to the characteristic path, as previously stated: 'Many skillful means without difficulty.' Regarding the distinction of accumulating merit, the characteristic path only has common generosity and the six perfections such as moral discipline, thus it takes a long time. However, in mantra, since everything is known to be the Buddha's field, whatever is enjoyed becomes merit, thus it is vast, and since all implements are known to be nectar, it is excellent.
