That which is encompassed by the mind of wanting to attain and entering, which has become the nature of the six perfections. As the Ornament for Clear Realization states: "The arising of the mind is for the sake of others, desiring perfect and complete enlightenment." It is divided into seven categories. The division from the perspective of two categories is: As stated in the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life: "The mind of enlightenment, in brief, should be known as two types: the mind of aspiring to enlightenment and the mind of engaging in enlightenment." The Nirvana Sutra also states: "Through the distinction of conventional and ultimate, the mind of enlightenment is of two types, like the sound of Simhanada." The division from the perspective of three categories is: With the order of the three trainings, purifying is the training of discipline, abiding is the training of mind, liberating is the training of wisdom, the three forms of the three minds. The division from the perspective of four categories is: In the accumulation and preparation stages, there is the mind of aspiration through faith. From the seventh ground downwards to the first ground upwards, there is the mind of pure intention. In the three pure grounds, there is the mind of ripening. In the Buddha ground, there is the mind of abandoning obscurations. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "The arising of the mind on the grounds, aspiration and pure intention, purity and ripening are considered different, likewise, abandoning the two obscurations." The division from the perspective of five categories is: The five minds of the five paths. The division from the perspective of six categories is: The six of the six perfections, as stated in the Intermediate Mother: "The six minds of arising that are endowed with the six perfections, with which are they endowed?" The division of the boundaries is represented by twenty-two examples, as stated in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "They are earth, gold, moon, and fire, treasure and jewel source and ocean, vajra, mountain, medicine, friend, wish-fulfilling jewel, sun, naga, king, treasury, great road, vehicle, adorned water, sound, reflection, river, and clouds, these are twenty-two in number." The meaning represented by these examples is, as stated in the commentary: Desire, thought, increased intention, application, generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, concentration, wisdom, skillful means, aspiration, strength, the perfections of wisdom, and clairvoyance,

Virtue and wisdom, and the means of enlightenment, correspond to the Dharma, compassion and insight, retention and fearlessness, and the feast of Dharma, the one path to tread, and possessing the Dharmakaya, and so on. Among them, the first three are the three paths of accumulation. The application is in the path of application. The ten from generosity to wisdom are the ten bhumis. The five from clairvoyance to retention and fearlessness are the three pure bhumis. The latter three exist in the application, main practice, and subsequent practice of the ten bhumis. Among them, the generation of mind obtained through the vows of commitment exists in the path of learning, but not in the Buddha-bhumi. The generation of mind of great compassion, free from obscurations, accomplishing benefit, should be known to exist in the Buddha-bhumi. There are seven meanings for each, among which, the meaning of aspiration and entry is: aspiring with the intention of benefiting others, like wanting to walk, is the aspiration Bodhicitta. Entering and acting, like walking, is the entering Bodhicitta. As it is said in the Bodhicaryavatara: 'Wanting to go and going, how to know the difference, likewise, the wise should know the difference between these two in order.' Thus. The meaning of the three trainings is: restraining the mind from the direction of non-virtue is discipline. Increasing virtue such as samadhi is mind. Accomplishing the two benefits and distinguishing what is to be known is the training of wisdom. The meaning of the stages is: when faith arises in the lineage, and the general object is taken as the object, acting with faith, when seeing partial qualities, it is pure superior intention. When purity of the Buddha-field and so on are attained, it is fruition. Thus, when suchness is free from all obscurations, it is called the Bodhicitta that has abandoned obscurations. The meaning of the five paths is: at the beginning, mainly practicing hearing, thinking, and accumulating merit, it is the path of accumulation. Combining non-conceptual wisdom with the path of seeing, it is the path of application. Directly realizing the nature of reality is the path of seeing. Meditating after realization is the path of meditation. When the object of training is ultimate, and there is no need to meditate, it is called the path of no learning. The meaning of the six perfections is: without stinginess towards possessions, giving the mind of virtue to others is generosity. Protecting the mind from misdeeds is discipline. Subduing anger with patience is patience. Rejoicing in virtue is diligence. Focusing the mind on one object is meditation.
