." "Because it possesses purity and afflictions, because it is completely free from afflictions and pure, therefore, the qualities of that stainless Buddha are: uniquely, in the state of ordinary beings possessing all afflictions, wisdom is without distinction, the nature of reality exists without difference between before and after, this place is inconceivable." Asanga stated this in the commentary. "Because of the undifferentiated Dharma, because it is spontaneously accomplished, without conceptualization." And so on. That is, the nature of that meaning itself is the correct view. When one sees that view and is liberated from the sudden stains of afflictions, like a cloud covering, although the manifestation of the previously existing qualities is called enlightenment, it is not newly produced. Therefore, in terms of the nature of the element or essence, it is emptiness, empty of the characteristics of things with distinctions and faults, but it is not non-empty, not empty of the qualities that are inherently present. As it says in that very text: "Possessing characteristics with distinctions, the realm is empty of adventitious stains, possessing characteristics without distinctions, it is not empty of the unsurpassed Dharma." And in its commentary: "What does this show? Because in the Tathagatagarbha, which is naturally completely pure, there is no reason to remove any of the afflictions, because freedom from adventitious stains is its nature. There is nothing to be established as a reason for purification, because the Dharma without distinctions, the pure nature of reality, is its nature. Therefore, the essence of the Tathagata is empty of all the coverings of afflictions, knowing the separation of what has distinctions and what does not, and it is not empty of the Buddha Dharma that is without distinctions, inseparable, inconceivable, and beyond the sands of the Ganges," as stated in the Garland of Jewels Sutra. Note: Thus, what is not there is empty, not seen in accordance with the truth, and what is there is always present, known as it is. These two verses, because they are free from the extremes of addition and subtraction, show the characteristic of non-inverted emptiness.

Oṃ! How do the dharmas of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa exist in such a lineage? The dharmas of saṃsāra exist like clouds on the sun, having the relationship of obscurer and obscured; while the dharmas of nirvāṇa exist as the same essence as rays of light. In short, in the dependent sphere of reality, the dependent dharmas of saṃsāra themselves are with defilements. When they are removed by antidotes, the dharmas of nirvāṇa manifest. This should be understood. The dharmas of saṃsāra are adventitious, and the qualities are primordially unconditioned. It is also from this that: "Faults are adventitious, and qualities are inherently possessed. Just as before, so also later, it is the unchanging nature of reality." Thus it is. Therefore, in the state of the lineage of dharmadhātu, which is immovable like space, for countless lifetimes, relying on the karma and habitual tendencies accumulated in the endless cycle of saṃsāra, the way of abandoning and taking up the aggregates is: As it says in that very text: "Just as in all the worlds, arising and ceasing occur in space, similarly, in the unconditioned realm, the faculties also arise and cease." That is to say, although the faculties appear to arise and cease from karma and conditions, their essence is without arising and ceasing, just as the fire at the end of an eon burns the world but cannot burn space. As it says in that very text: "Just as space has never been burned by fire, similarly, it is not burned by the fire of death, sickness, and old age." Thus, all birth, death, happiness, and suffering arise from karma and afflictions. And these arise from the non-virtuous conceptualizations and ignorance. Therefore, it relies on the state of the mind's clear light, just as the world relies on space. "Earth relies on water, water relies on wind, and wind relies on space. Space does not rely on the nature of wind, water, and earth. Similarly, the aggregates, elements, and sense bases rely on karma and afflictions. Karma and afflictions rely on non-virtuous attention, and non-virtuous attention always relies on the purity of mind. The dharmas of the mind's nature do not rely on anything." Thus it is. The qualities of nirvāṇa, like the sun and its rays, are primordially co-existent. The qualities of appearance include body, rays of light, buddha-fields, celestial mansions, and so on, as well as awareness.
