It arises from the three situations of long, medium, and short (periods of Nirvana). Thus, the Arhats of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, after passing into complete Nirvana, enter the realm of cessation. According to their own tradition, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers believe that from then on, they remain constantly in the peaceful realm without wavering. However, the Great Vehicle considers that, depending on the length of time one has accumulated merit, the mind dissolves into the peaceful realm for a certain period. After that, they are born in the pure lands such as Sukhavati, Abhirati, and Padmavati, within the lotus buds, and remain there for seven years with the lotus closed. This is also due to the power of the subtle imprints of ignorance and the obscurations of knowledge. At the time of their birth, through the power of the sun of compassion of the Buddhas in those lands, the lotus opens from the rays of light of the spoken word, and verses arise that intoxicate with samadhi and awaken from faintness, as described in the 《Lotus Sutra》: 'Those who speak of Nirvana in this way, you are liberated from the sufferings of samsara, but you have not yet completely attained Nirvana. Seek this vehicle of the Buddha.' Immediately upon hearing this, joy arises in entering the path of the Great Vehicle, and the lotus opens. They then go to the presence of the Tathagata, initially generate Bodhicitta, practice the path, and attain Buddhahood in that very lifetime. As it is said in the 《Lankavatara Sutra》: 'Through the blessing of the Tathagata, one gains independence in birth, completely accumulates the two accumulations, and will attain Buddhahood itself.' This also begins by entering from only a small portion of the first path, the path of accumulation, and then perfecting the five paths of the Great Vehicle. Some people argue that (they) will fall into being ordinary beings because they enter from the path of accumulation, but this is a sign of misunderstanding. If an initial ordinary being enters from the path of accumulation, then that ordinary being's continuum has not yet attained the state of an Arya, so it is established as the ground of an ordinary being. However, when Hearers and Solitary Realizers enter, that person is already an Arya. The first path is the practice of the qualities of the four mindfulnesses. If practicing the four mindfulnesses turns one into an ordinary being, then one would also become an ordinary being at the time of the ten bhumis, because there are four mindfulnesses even on the ground of a self-enlightened Buddha, so there is the fault of becoming an ordinary being. Then, is the Hearer or Solitary Realizer who practices the four mindfulnesses a Great Vehicle Arya? What is an Arya?

If it is said that it is for the practice of the mindfulness of the Mahayana, then relative to the Mahayana, the nature of the noble one is not established. Because the abandonment and realization are not equal to the Mahayana noble one, therefore the first thesis is not established, so the Mahayana will not become a noble one, and the Hinayana is a noble one. Even if one practices the mindfulness of the Mahayana, one will not become a Mahayana noble one, so the pervasion is also not established. When it is said that the Bodhisattva purifies the Buddha-field, the Bodhisattva is considered to have complete Buddhahood, and there will be such faults and other concerns. Therefore, when the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Arhats enter the Mahayana path, they must enter from the small Mahayana accumulation path, because the Buddha of the Mahayana must accomplish the five Mahayana paths and cessation. The third meaning is that the Bodhisattva's path has three aspects: relying on the nature of the lineage, how those with lineage generate the mind, and the order of how to traverse the path with that method. The first is stated in the *Array of Trees Sutra*: 'Oh, sons of the Victorious Ones, the lineage of the Bodhisattva is said to be the one that fully embraces the realm of phenomena, is as vast as the sky, and is naturally luminous. The Bodhisattvas who abide therein are born into the lineage of the Buddhas, the Bhagavad Ones, of the past, future, and present.' And in the *Uttaratantra*: 'The nature of the mind is luminous, it is as immutable as the sky.' Therefore, the naturally pure realm of phenomena, the ultimate truth of self-arisen wisdom, when it has defilements, is called lineage, element, or the essence of the Tathagata; when it is free from defilements, it is called Bodhi or Tathagata. Establishing this has four meanings: the nature of the lineage, the way it pervades all, and the rationality of distinguishing the lineage in detail. The first is stated in the *Uttaratantra*: 'Here there is nothing to be removed, nor is there anything to be established. To see reality as it is, to see it as it is, is to be liberated.' Therefore, the essence of the Dharmadhatu has no defilements to be abandoned, because it is naturally luminous and without defilements. There are no qualities that were not there before that need to be newly acquired from the outside, because the qualities are spontaneously accomplished. The same text also says:
