If we analyze the point of "non-pervasion," the pervasion is the same as the probandum, just as the existence of the effect in the cause is not established for us. This difference is also not established, thus preventing self-origination. Moreover, Buddhists believe that smoke arises from fire, which is different from smoke, thus admitting other-origination, and also believing in the agent of other-origination. In the two cases of believing that flames do not arise from darkness, if other arises from other, then darkness should also arise from flames. If darkness does not arise from flames, then it is also unreasonable for other smoke to arise from other fire, because both are the same other. Therefore, the inference that gathers contradictions is: In the "Entering the Middle Way," it says, "If another arises relying on another, then thick darkness should also arise from flames." When saying this, if one realizes that the pervasion is not established, just as darkness does not arise from flames other than darkness, it is also not permissible for smoke to arise from fire other than smoke, and just as smoke arises from fire other than smoke, darkness should also arise from flames other than darkness, so that the pervasion is established. To put it simply, flames are the subject, darkness should arise, because other than you is darkness, and other than darkness is also you. If the flame, which is different from smoke, has the ability to produce smoke, so it produces smoke, but the flame, which is different from darkness, does not have the ability to produce darkness, so it does not produce, then this difference is the same as the probandum, just as we do not establish other-origination, the difference that fire has the ability to produce smoke, but flames do not have the ability to produce darkness, is also not established, thus preventing other-origination. Similarly, because there are two faults, it prevents arising from both. "Furthermore, the Lokayatas believe that things arise without a cause, and believe that the fragrance and color of a lotus in the sky do not arise, because it is not graspable." For this point, it is also refuted in the same way. As it says in the same text: "If beings become empty of causes, then the fragrance and color of a lotus in the sky are just like what is not graspable. Extremely bright, held by worldly people, therefore, one's own wisdom, like before, says that the world arises from causes." If one admits arising from no cause, then the world is without cause.

Because of this, various appearances cannot be directly perceived, which is a reductio ad absurdum that refutes by collecting contradictions. If one realizes that "pervasion is not established," even if the world has no cause, it will appear colorful. Even if the scent and color of a sky lotus have no cause, they must appear to the senses, which is to establish pervasion by treating them equally. If someone wants to distinguish by saying that even though they are the same in having no cause, the world appears because it has self-nature, while the scent and color of a sky lotus do not appear because they have no self-nature, then this distinction is equivalent to the conclusion that needs to be proven. Just as we do not accept arising from no cause, the distinction that the world has self-nature while the scent and color of a sky lotus do not have self-nature is also not established," which prevents arising from nothing. All conclusions established by reductio ad absurdum are negated, and one does not accept a tenet that extends from oneself. As it says in the *Refutation of Disputes*: "If I have some vows, then I will have these faults. Because I have no vows, I am completely without fault." And as it says in the *Four Hundred Verses*: "For one who has no position on existence, non-existence, or both, even after a long time, it is not possible to state an objection." And as it says in the *Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning*: "If one accepts things as real, then from desire and hatred, endless wrong views will arise, and from that, disputes will arise. That is the root of all wrong views; without it, afflictions will not arise. Therefore, if one fully understands it, one will completely abandon views and afflictions." And as Nāgārjuna says in the *Garland of Precious Gems*: "If one accepts things as real, then fears such as annihilation will arise. For those who do not accept things as real, where will fears such as annihilation arise? If there is a thing, then the world will have an end, and it will also become endless, and so on. If there is a thing, then it must be accepted, but how can one accept the fact that things are unborn? And the thing that is accepted does not exist even as a particle, because it has never been produced from the beginning, like the son of a barren woman. For example, ask a barren woman, 'Who is your son?' Because she has no son, she cannot say." So it is said. Well then, the two truths, and so on.
