If entering multiple objects, just as the eye consciousness is singular, yet manifests the appearances of multiple objects such as blue and yellow. It is not contradictory that consciousness is singular, yet manifests the appearances of multiple forms and sounds. A single concept does not manifest the general meaning of distinctions, but because the clarity of awareness experiences the self-characteristic of all distinctions as inseparable, it is not contradictory that its general meaning does not appear, just as blue and so forth also grasp the general meaning of each distinct aspect. Therefore, it is both a concept and, without exception, experiences the self-characteristic of the meaning of clarity that is distinct and inseparable. Therefore, its general meaning does not appear, and it is not contradictory that it does not have conceptualization in one entity. Second, the so-called "abandoning what is to be abandoned by the antidote" is like fire and cold touch, which are different entities. Because it becomes the harmed and the harmer, generating contradiction with continuous entry, it is said to be the eight aggregates. The part of the seed of the all-ground consciousness is the harmed, and the mind accustomed to selflessness does not make it impossible to generate by the power of the harmer. Rather, the continuum of an entity that is in its prime, when born as old, that continuum itself reverts to the form of its former prime, just as it is said that old age destroys youth. The continuum of the entity of consciousness with a reversed appearance itself is born as non-reversed consciousness, and there, it becomes impossible to generate reversal, which is called "abandoning what is to be abandoned by the antidote." Therefore, the later-arising antidote is said to abandon the previously existing object to be abandoned. Third, if the aggregate of consciousness is one, then it contradicts experiencing many. If you say that, it is not so. Because that single entity of consciousness depends on appearing in multiple sources of arising, it manifests the appearance of multiple objects, therefore it is known as multiple consciousnesses. For example, when one monkey appears in multiple holes of a castle, it is determined to be multiple monkeys, or when people inside cannot be seen from the holes in four directions, they are thought to be multiple people. Fourth, as it is said in the scripture: "He who is bodiless and dwells in a cave, travels far and acts alone, subduing the mind that is difficult to tame." "I call him a Brahmin." Thus it is said in the Collection of Special Verses. Third, the basis of mental factors is twofold: that mind and entity are not one is unreasonable, and that entities are inseparable.

This is a discussion on how to establish (five) concomitants. Firstly, there are five points: the sameness of object is not established, it contradicts experience, the appearance and non-appearance contradict in the case of substance being inseparable, self-power and other-power are unreasonable, and the refutation of these views. The first point is that even for a single entity arising from mind as previously explained, some argue that the primary consciousness is identical with its five concomitants, just as they say that the primary consciousness has five distinct entities. Some say that if this were the case, when a conceptual thought of mind arises and a non-conceptual mental event arises as its concomitant, the primary consciousness apprehends the general meaning, while the concomitant apprehends the specific characteristics of the object itself, thus the sameness of object is not reasonable. The second point is that if the concomitant is a conceptual thought, then the concomitants are always only the five all-pervasive ones, which would mean that the conceptual thought has six entities, or when many concomitants arise, the conceptual thought has many entities arising in one continuum, which is impossible because experience proves that there is no such case, so it contradicts experience. The third point is that for eye consciousness, the essence appears but the particular does not appear, while for its concomitants, the primary consciousness does not appear. If it is considered a single entity as they claim, then appearance and non-appearance would not contradict in a single entity, then there would also be contradiction. The fourth point is that if the primary mind also manifests both the essence and the particular of the object, and the concomitants also manifest both, since there are two aspects of appearance and non-appearance, the appearance of the essence for the primary consciousness is due to its own power, so the essence is considered to appear, while the appearance of the particular is due to the power of the concomitants, so the particular is not considered to appear. The appearance of the particular for the concomitants is due to its own power, so the particular is considered to appear, while the appearance of the essence is due to the power of the primary consciousness, so the essence is not considered to appear. If this is the case, then is the primary consciousness prior to the concomitant mind, or does the concomitant mind arise first, or do they exist simultaneously? If it is the first case, then simultaneous existence is unreasonable, and the primary consciousness can cause the concomitant to apprehend the essence, but the concomitant cannot cause the primary consciousness to apprehend the particular. If it is the second case, then there is also no simultaneous existence, so the concomitant can cause the primary consciousness to apprehend the particular, but the primary consciousness cannot cause the concomitant to apprehend the essence. If it is the third case, then in the case of simultaneous existence, there is no benefactor and beneficiary in the mind by a single entity, so the primary consciousness cannot cause the simultaneous concomitant to apprehend the essence, and the concomitant cannot cause the primary consciousness to apprehend the particular in the case of simultaneous existence. The fifth point is, if they exist simultaneously
