The twenty-four aspects of the chief deity appear as illusions in the mundane world. By clinging to 'self' and grasping it as real, one wanders in samsara. Knowing that the nature of 'self' is free from action and agent, permanent, pervasive, and unwavering, is the ultimate truth. Those who remain steadfast in this state, without wavering, desire to attain liberation. The benefit of understanding these truths is the accomplishment of liberation. Simply by knowing these twenty-five aspects, whether with matted hair or a shaved head, in whatever attire, and wherever one delights to dwell, liberation will surely be attained, without doubt. Thus it is said. The second is the Īśvara school. The great deity Īśvara expounded many tantras, from which came two disciples: the Kāṇāda and the Kaṇabhuk. Once, a sage was entrusted to guard Umā, but he developed attachment. Fearing the loss of his asceticism, he gazed at Umā's foot and diligently practiced asceticism, thereby attaining accomplishment. Hence, they are called Kāṇāda, and they rely on the treatise called 'Rational View' composed by Kāṇāda, and are called Rationalists. Another practiced asceticism by eating only the remnants of grains, hence they are called Kaṇabhuk, and they rely on the treatise called 'Distinction Explained' composed by Kaṇabhuk, and are called Distinctionists. These schools believe that the happiness and suffering of beings, as well as samsara and liberation, are all caused by the displeasure and pleasure of the deity Īśvara. They believe that beings have no awareness, and that one's own happiness and suffering are not under one's own control, but are determined by Īśvara, either being thrown into an abyss or ascending to the heavens. Thus it is said. They believe that whatever is offered during a sacrifice is obtained in this life, and in the next life, one will become a retinue of Īśvara and be born in the heavens. Brahmins become whatever they desire, kshatriyas become whatever they desire, and those who desire wealth obtain wealth, therefore, one should properly perform excellent sacrifices. Thus it is said. They claim that by burning one's own body as an offering to please the deity, one can attain liberation. Those who uphold the tenets of these schools are called Īśvaras, Owl-progeny, and Six-Meaningists. These schools believe that all philosophical tenets can be analyzed and summarized into six meanings through reason. Therefore, they rely on the aspect of reason. These six meanings are: substance, Among these, there are nine substances: self, time, direction, mind, space.

The five permanent substances are earth, water, fire, and wind, and the four impermanent substances. The qualities that depend on substances are twenty-five in number. Among them, the thirteen that depend on the substance of the self are happiness, suffering, neutrality, dharma, non-dharma, conditioned phenomena, the force of effort, and the six consciousnesses. The seven that depend on time and direction are: "Number and volume, two." "Conjunction and action, two." "Other and non-other, two. Individuality." There are five kinds of qualities: sound is the quality of space. "Smell is the quality of earth." "Taste is the quality of water." "Tactility is the quality of wind." "Color is the quality of fire." There are five actions: lifting and placing, two; extending and contracting, two; and going. There are two commonalities: the pervasive and the limited. Particularity is a dharma that does not intermingle with others. Combination is what connects substances and qualities. Therefore, the self is permanent, singular, all-pervasive, belongs to the continuum of sentient beings, and is the enjoyer. Therefore, it is considered to be material, that is, possessing five characteristics. The other self is also the self here. It possesses qualities such as desire and hatred. It is the basis, the all-enterer, and the enjoyer. The self is considered to be of the nature of matter. So it is said. Even though the self is material, since the consciousnesses of the five senses are considered to be qualities, it is able to apprehend objects. Although its essence is permanent, since effort and combination are regarded as qualities, taking a body and so on are considered to be its qualities. Although the self is permanent, it also becomes an agent. Just as pottery breaks and sand flies away. From this world to another world. When transferring and connecting the continuum. That which is called the self takes it. So it is said. The third is the Pervader school. The god Vishnu composed a hundred thousand treatises. From the lotus birth in the navel arose the four-faced Brahma. All the vessel and essence realms are emanated by Brahma, therefore he is called the father of the world. From his four faces, he spoke of the four great sciences of poetics, politics, sacrifice, and determinism, which have been permanent from beginningless time. Brahma remembers and speaks them, therefore the Vedas are considered to be permanent. Later, they were collected by the sages, and among the schools that expound their own doctrines. There are grammarians who rely on the treatise of Vishnu, the light of grammar's speech, and the logicians who rely on the weapon of the speech of the sage Agni, namely,
