The four chapters of "Rawa" explain the four lamps. The four chapters of "Union of Sun and Moon" explain the bardo. Thus, the three tantras of self-existing wisdom are explained as the seeing eye. The thirteen chapters of "Lion's Complete Power" explain the view without partiality. The fourteen chapters of "Jewel Arrangement" explain entering the path. Thus, the two tantras of entering self-liberation are explained as the nature of the mind of remembrance. The tantra of the wise ritual, the glorious Black Wrathful Mother, explains the extensive activities of protecting the teachings, like a good dog guarding the home. Thus, the eighteen tantras are collected into eight categories and explained, which is determined by intention. If the two root tantras are missing, it is like a tree with rotten roots, unable to produce branches, leaves, and fruits. If the two explanatory tantras are missing, it is like having no leaves, and flowers cannot possibly appear. If the two branch tantras are missing, it is like a person with a severed arm unable to accomplish tasks. If the two tantras of entering self-liberation are missing, it is like a corpse without a heart. If the two tantras of clear reasoning are missing, it is like having no flowers, and fruits cannot be produced. If the four instruction tantras are missing, it is like cultivating without producing fruit, which is meaningless. If the three tantras of self-existing wisdom are missing, it is like having no eyes, unable to see things. If the tantra of the wise ritual is missing, it is like having no protection, and enemies and thieves will come. Thus, if these eight points are missing, the conditions for a single teaching are not complete. Even if there are more than this, it is not necessary, so it is determined to be eight, and the order of meaning is also determined, and the reason lies in this. Explaining these individual meanings as roots that are rooted in the ground, it refers to the root of self-existing wisdom. Explaining the extensive as leaves, it refers to the intermingling of words and meanings. Explaining the branches as intertwined trunks, it refers to the non-duality of space and wisdom. Explaining the reasoning as bright flowers, it refers to directly grasping the self-nature of the lamp. Explaining the instructions as ripening fruits, it refers to using the three bodies as the path. Explaining the self-existing wisdom liberation path as the seer, it refers to the direct key point. Entering self-liberation means awakening the wisdom of remembrance as the path, which means encountering the self-nature of the lamp. The wise ritual means protecting the teachings. Thus,

It is completely explained with eight views. The fruits of those all gather in the root wisdom, and wisdom is emptiness, free from grasping at subjects and objects. Holding that very tantra as self-awareness, one meets with wisdom; by holding it, meditation abides in oneself. By reading it, the meaning of what is said arises in the mind. By explaining it, one fulfills the needs and desires of oneself and others. By meditating on it, one uproots samsara from its depths. By listening to it, one touches the meaning of the essence. The explanatory tantra, like a tree with spreading branches, is where non-elaborate wisdom arises based on the elaboration of words. The six collections of the branch tantras, in the appearance of objects, show the five senses as being liberated right away, like stars appearing in the ocean. With clear reasoning and scriptures, connecting the words of the victors and the correct understanding to the consciousness of the yogi, is like a flower opening. The instruction tantra, by decisively cutting through the elaboration of words and meaning at the crucial point, is like a buddha with ripened fruit. The intention of self-abiding, with the intention that transcends session breaks, making day and night like a continuous stream of water, is like an eye. Entering self-liberation is when awareness enters appearance. Appearance is liberated on its own ground, so entering is self-liberated. Awareness is liberated in appearance, so it is self-arisen and self-liberated. Appearance and mind are liberated in non-duality, so that non-dual side is beyond, like the heart. The tantra of the learned ritual, by ascertaining the key points of the Matrikas, subdues the opposing forces and protects one's own side, like a dog guarding the house. Thus, by keeping in mind the meaning of the eight categories, one meets with wisdom; by holding it, one abides in meditation; by reading it, one understands the ultimate meaning; by explaining it, one dispels the darkness of oneself and others; by meditating on it, one dries up the ocean of samsara; by listening to it, one touches the definitive meaning. Those are also shown as eighteen aspects for the sake of those of lower intelligence who enjoy elaboration. For those of middling intelligence, those eight categories of meaning are taught. For those of superior faculties, it is taught that realization comes through the tantra of the object to be signified and the signifier, the tantra of the basis nature, the two of the tantra of the essence nature, and the five of the tantra of the essence of quintessence. For those who are extremely superior, it is taught that realization comes through the two of the tantra of words and the tantra of meaning. For those who are completely without elaboration, it is taught that the seventeen tantras are complete in one's own awareness. From the Sound Tantra: One's own nature has no letters, self-awareness.
