Those who desire to exhaust sins are called 'Exhausters'. Those who follow the holy Jina (meaning 'Conqueror') are called 'Victors'. Those who smear ashes on their bodies are called 'Ash-wearers'. Those who wander in all directions for the sake of begging are called 'Wanderers'. The fifth aspect is: According to this school, all dharmas are categorized into nine word-meanings. These nine word-meanings are: life, defilements, discipline, inevitable aging, bondage, karma, sins, merit, and liberation. Among these, life refers to the individual and the Pudgala (meaning 'person'), whose essence is permanent, but whose state is impermanent, and which is equal in size to the body of the Pudgala. The second aspect is: the virtuous and non-virtuous actions that cause defilements in samsara. The third aspect is: preventing defilements by not accumulating new karma. The fourth aspect is: exhausting past karma by abiding in discipline and relying on physical asceticism and mental meditation. The fifth aspect is: wrong views. The sixth aspect is: karma has four aspects, namely, the karma that will be experienced in the future, the names of conventional terms, lineage, and the lifespan that sustains life. The seventh aspect is: non-dharma. The eighth aspect is: the correct dharma. The ninth aspect is: by exhausting all karma, above all the worlds, there is a place called 'Beyond the World', like a white parasol held upright, the color is white, the area is one hundred and fifty million yojanas (an ancient Indian unit of length), living beings are liberated from matter and samsara, and reaching that place without matter is considered to have attained freedom. This school believes that there are nine main categories of sentient beings, namely the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, as well as trees, insects, ants, bees, and humans. The four elements have dharma nature, because they perform beneficial and harmful actions at the appropriate time, so they are sentient. Trees have dharma nature, because they die when their bark is peeled off, so they are sentient. Furthermore, they have dharma nature, because they sleep in winter and wake up in summer, drink water with their feet, and then blossom and bear fruit. Creepers have dharma nature, because they rely on other trees to grow, so they have eyes. Most flowers have dharma nature, because they face the sun, so they have eyes. Aquatic plants have dharma nature, because when thunder sounds, they begin to bear fruit, so they have ears. A tree called 'Mādu luṅ ga' has dharma nature, because if a rotting dog corpse is placed at its roots, it will bear many fruits, so it has a nose. The Emblica tree has dharma nature, because if milk is placed at its roots, it will... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For example, the Aśoka tree (Sanskrit: Aśoka, meaning: without sorrow), because it produces many fruits. If kicked by the ornamented foot of a woman in her prime, it will produce various fruits. Also, the Sindhuvara flower (Sanskrit: Sindhuvara, meaning: seaside flower), because it is passionate. If moistened by the saliva of a young woman, its petals will bloom openly. They believe that the Buddha is not omniscient because they do not wish to know all knowledge. They believe that Shakyamuni Buddha did not predict the fourteen unelucidated questions, did not know the beginning of samsara, and allowed Devadatta to be ordained. They also believe that when the Tathāgata's (Sanskrit: Tathāgata, meaning: one who comes thus) foot was pierced by a acacia tree thorn, he experienced the maturation of karma, therefore they consider the Buddha to be like an ordinary person. The fifth heretical school is the Lokāyata. It includes: identifying the root teacher, the doctrine that advocates desire, categories of names, etymological explanations, and the particularity of its claims. First, their teachers include: Bṛhaspati (Sanskrit: Bṛhaspati, meaning: great lord), the teacher of the gods, the sage Lokāyata (Sanskrit: Lokāyata, meaning: world-eye), and their student Ajita Kesakambala (Sanskrit: Ajita Kesakambala, meaning: the unconquered, hair-blanket), and so on. Second, their doctrines include: the treatise of one hundred thousand verses composed by Lokāyata, and the Vedas taught by Bṛhaspati, and so on. Third, they are called: the Charvakas, the annihilationists, the nihilists, the followers of Bṛhaspati, and the Lokāyatas, and so on. Fourth, they are called Lokāyatas because they have gone far away from the correct view. Fifth, they believe that there is no coming from a previous life to this life, the body is formed by the combination of elements such as earth, consciousness arises suddenly from the body, the present body and mind are the same substance, therefore there is no continuation from this life to the next. They also believe that only what can be measured by sensory experience is real, anything hidden is unacceptable, therefore they only accept direct perception as the only valid cognition. Furthermore, they say: 'The sun rises in the east, rivers flow downwards, beans are round, thorns are sharp, the peacock's feathers are beautiful and charming, these are not created by anyone, but arise naturally.' Therefore, some Lokāyatas believe that no one has seen the creator of things such as the roundness of beans, the sharpness of thorns, the color of flowers, the peacock's feathers, and so on, therefore all these arise naturally without cause or condition. The above is a brief description of the fundamental five schools of sophistry of the outsiders and their branch schools. Second, regarding the inner school, namely Buddhism: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
