Secondly, regarding the methods of meditating on the absence of self of persons and the absence of self of phenomena, there are two types: First, regarding the methods of cultivating Samatha-vipassana (止观), there are two types: Samatha (止) like the sky and Vipassanā (观) like illusion. First, there are two types: one's own system and others' systems. The first is: based on the reasoning of the four key points, such as negating one, many, existence, and non-existence, the definitive understanding that the self of a person is not established as either one or different is the wisdom consciousness that analyzes the ultimate truth. While the grasping of that wisdom consciousness has not weakened, initially, mainly cultivate Samatha (止), and when a stable state is found, familiarize oneself through various methods of analysis and placement. Secondly, some Tibetan scholars believe that without contemplating the reasoning of the four key points, etc., while the force of the previous definitive understanding has not yet faded, cultivating the view by repeatedly remembering the absence of self. Some scholars believe that by placing the self of a person underfoot, cultivating the view by repeatedly thinking about its absence. Still others believe that once the absence of self of a person is determined by the reasoning of being separate from one and many, cultivating the view by staying single-pointedly in that state without distraction and remaining together. Secondly, there are two ways in which appearance and emptiness, where appearance is without inherent existence, arise simultaneously: one is through the power of Samatha (止), and the other is through the power of deliberate meditation. Secondly, regarding the methods of meditating on conditioned and unconditioned phenomena, there are two types: The first is: material objects are attributed to their respective parts and atoms, etc.; consciousnesses are attributed to their respective preceding and following moments, etc.; and non-associated formations are attributed to their respective bases of imputation. Analysis must be done on these bases. The second is: even unconditioned phenomena such as space should be analyzed in terms of their many parts, and meditation should be done by contemplating this method. Third, regarding conduct: taking the six perfections, etc., into practice by being seized by the seizing Bodhicitta (菩提心). Third, regarding the result: there are three aspects: the way the four Kayas (身) are manifested, their individual characteristics, and the classification of qualities and activities. The first is: in the Mahayana (大乘) path of cultivation, during the Vajra-like (金刚) unobstructed path, although there are no obscurations, they have not yet been abandoned. When that continuum transforms into the liberation path, the continuum of the previous unobstructed path transforms into the Dharmakaya (法身) of wisdom; the previous --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Through the truth of cessation, it transforms into the Svabhavikakaya (Tibetan: ངོ་བོ་ཉིད་སྐུ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: Essence Body); the Bodhisattva, with a body adorned with the marks and signs of permanence, transforms into the Sambhogakaya (Tibetan: ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་སྐུ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: Enjoyment Body), and simultaneously, effortlessly and spontaneously benefits beings through supreme Nirmanakayas and other means. Secondly, there are four: Svabhavikakaya, Jñanakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. First, the emptiness of the Tathagata's body, speech, and mind is the Svabhavikakaya of self-nature purity; the aspect where all temporary defilements on that body, speech, and mind have been exhausted is the Svabhavikakaya of temporary defilement removal. Such a Svabhavikakaya is unconditioned because it is free from arising, abiding, and ceasing; it is non-dual because it is inseparable from the Dharmadhatu; it is non-inverted because it is free from the two extremes; it is stainlessly pure because it is naturally pure and temporary defilements have been exhausted; it is luminous because it is the object of individual self-awareness, possessing five characteristics. It is immeasurable because its qualities are vast, countless because its qualities are beyond enumeration, inconceivable because it is not the object of speculation, unequaled because it is different from those who have not realized this meaning, and completely pure because it is without obscurations including habitual tendencies, possessing five qualities, as stated in the Uttaratantra. Secondly, it is the ultimate wisdom that directly knows all aspects of knowable things, both as they are (yathāvadbhāva) and as many as they are (yāvatbhāva), simultaneously. Briefly, it can be divided into two knowledges; moderately, it can be divided into five wisdoms; extensively, it includes the twenty-one categories of undefiled dharmas, etc. Thirdly, the abode of this Sambhogakaya is the Akaniṣṭha Ghanavyūha pure land at the top of the seventeen realms of the form realm, which is not formed by the accumulation of particles but is formed by the appearance of wisdom, a special pure land. The chief of that land, the actual Sambhogakaya, has a body with marks and signs of the same lineage without interruption, speech that teaches the Dharma of the same lineage without interruption, and a mind of wisdom and compassion without interruption. These three do not rely on effort, and although the essence is not different, it demonstrates the activities of supreme emanations, possessing five qualities, as stated in the Uttaratantra. Fourthly, it is the ultimate Rupakaya that does not possess the five certainties. Regarding this, such as the Nirmanakaya of craftsmanship like the craftsman king Karma Viśva emanated by the Buddha, and transforming into a lute player to subdue the king of the Gandharvas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
