Regarding the views of duality and the existence of three: The first view holds that when eye consciousness observes variegated colors, it generates multiple appearances of object-possessing consciousness equal to the number of blue, yellow, etc., colors on the variegated object. This is the view of Master Shakya-buddhi. The second view holds that blue and the apprehension of blue are different entities in terms of the time of their establishment, but are the same entity in terms of the object they point to. This is the view of the Brahmin Devadatta. The third view holds that when eye consciousness observes variegated colors, it does not generate multiple appearances of object-possessing consciousness equal to the number of blue, yellow, etc., colors on the variegated object. Instead, it generates a single variegated consciousness that possesses the appearance of various parts of the variegated object. This is the view of Master Dharmakirti. Furthermore, any Mind-Only proponent who believes that the direct perception of form by an ordinary being's continuum is tainted by ignorance in the aspect of appearing as coarse form is a characteristic of the Mind-Only False Aspectarian. This can be divided into two types: False Aspectarian with Taint and without Taint. The difference between the two lies in whether the essence of the mind is tainted by the defilement of the habitual imprints of ignorance, and whether there are deluded appearances in the state of Buddhahood. Second, regarding the path: There are two paths, the Lesser Vehicle and the Greater Vehicle. First, the Lesser Vehicle is divided into the Hearer's Path and the Solitary Realizer's Path. First, the Hearer's Path is divided into the Hearer's Lineage and the Actual Path. First, the Hearer's Lineage: This refers to the capacity to maintain and develop the Hearer's Dharma, which has existed without interruption from beginningless time. The signs of the lineage are: little attachment to body and possessions, great weariness with samsara, possessing mindfulness and being cautious of non-virtue, generating faith upon hearing the teachings of the Four Noble Truths, taking the vows of individual liberation and not abandoning them even at the cost of one's life, and dedicating all the virtues one has accumulated as a cause for liberation from samsara. These are the six. Second, the Actual Path: This refers to training in the three trainings with the motivation of desiring to liberate oneself alone from all of samsara. Among these, the higher training in morality is any of the eight vows of individual liberation. The eight vows of individual liberation are: the one-day vow, male and female lay vows, male and female novice vows, probationary nun vow, and male and female fully ordained vows. The higher training in concentration is the nine mental abidings, the six powers, and attention. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is the samadhi (定,concentration) of single-pointedness, seized by the extraordinary *shin-sbyangs* (轻安,equanimity) accomplished through the four means. The training in higher wisdom (*lhagpa shesrab kyi bslabpa*) is: relying on such a *zhi-gnas* (止,calm abiding) samadhi, the wisdom that individually discerns, repeatedly drawn by the power of analysis, a *shesrab lhag-mthong* (胜观,vipassanā) aspect of wisdom accompanied by *shin-sbyangs*. Furthermore, the training in higher ethics (*tshul-khrims*) and the path of establishing the selflessness of the person (*gangzag gi bdag med*), primarily based on hearing and thinking, is the accumulation path (*tshogs lam*) of the Hearers (*nyan thos*); the path of mentally engaging with the selflessness of the person in a general way, primarily based on meditation, is the joining path (*sbyor lam*) of the Hearers; the wisdom that newly directly sees the selflessness of the person is the seeing path (*mthong lam*) of the Hearers; the wisdom of repeatedly familiarizing oneself with that selflessness already directly seen is the meditation path (*sgom lam*) of the Hearers; and the path of completing the progression of such a personal path is the no-more-learning path (*mi slob lam*) of the Hearers. Secondly, regarding the *rang-rgyal* (缘觉,Pratyekabuddha), there are the own school and the actual path. Firstly, the own school: in general, it is similar to the aforementioned Hearers, except that it possesses only the ability to allow the Dharma of the *rang-rgyal* to abide and increase. The sign of the lineage is that afflictions are small, one dislikes busyness, compassion is small, the mind abides in a small place, pride is great, and the natural faculties are middling. The *rang-rgyal* like a rhinoceros is a determined *rang-rgyal* lineage, and the two types of *rang-rgyal*, the communal practitioner and the field practitioner, are undetermined lineages. Secondly, the actual path: the path of the *rang-rgyal* is generally similar to that of the Hearers, but the meditation on the arising and ceasing of the twelve links of dependent origination (*rten 'brel bcu gnyis*) and the meditation on the two thousand are distinctive features. The liberation result (*bral 'bras*) of the *rang-rgyal* Arhat (*dgra bcom pa*) is the cessation truth (*'gog bden*) in which only the coarse obscurations of affliction (*nyon sgrib*) and the obscurations of knowledge (*shes sgrib*) have been abandoned. Secondly, regarding the path of the Great Vehicle (*theg chen*), there are the lineage and the actual path. Firstly, regarding the lineage, there are the naturally abiding lineage and the developing lineage. The first is the seed of stainless mind on the *kun gzhi'i rnam shes* (阿赖耶识,ālaya-vijñāna, store consciousness) , the ability to generate unsurpassed enlightenment (*byang chub*). The Mind-Only School (*sems tsam pa*) that follows the scriptures believes that, in general, sentient beings have three types of determined lineages, namely, a lineage determined for each of the three vehicles, which cannot be changed by any condition; there is also an undetermined lineage that can be changed by conditions; and there is also a lineage that is cut off (*rigs chad pa*), which will not arise in the continuum no matter what path is meditated upon. Therefore, the ultimate establishment of the three vehicles and the cut-off lineage... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
