As they approached the great monastery of El gyi chosde (埃寺), many extraordinary welcoming parties came to greet them, dressed in various costumes and masks symbolizing the Chinese Heshang (gya nag ha shang, 汉人哈香), the son of the gods (lha'i bu, 天子), and the workers who served as emanations of the Dharma protectors (chos skyong, 护法). Afterward, the procession gradually approached the great monastery, where all the monks greeted them with a solemn, beautiful, and majestic procession that was pleasing to the eye.
