‘Che ge mo’ (so-and-so), wherever you are, may you come here instantly! Invoke in this way three times, and visualize him/her appearing in front of you. Then, call the name of ‘O tshe le she pa’ (the deceased), up to ‘attaining the state of Buddhahood.’ Introduce the Bardo state as before, through the seven points mentioned above, and with a strong aspiration, ‘For that purpose, I will listen to the profound teachings.’ Then, introduce with ‘In the past, the Lama has shown you this profound path,’ and make him/her recognize the path that was practiced in the past. By clarifying it, explain the stages of visualization. And show the fruit attained through that path of liberation. If done in this way, the previously practiced path will be strengthened, and in the Bardo state, the fruit will manifest, therefore, the benefit is very great, like a green sprout moistened by rain. Therefore, the teachers should be proficient in all the stages of the path. Secondly, the method for ordinary people: Starting with stating the truth, introduce the Bardo state as before through seven points. For that purpose, with a strong aspiration, preceded by refuge prayers, listen to the profound teachings, and visualize in this way: In the sky in front of you, the root and lineage Lamas and the Thirty-Five Buddhas, as well as the Buddhas of the ten directions and immeasurable Bodhisattvas, are surrounding like dense clouds. Visualize yourself and immeasurable sentient beings are all present in front of them, and think that in front of the Lamas and other holy beings present, by the power of reliance, and by generating strong remorse for the evil deeds done previously, thereby having the power to destroy, and by resolving not to commit evil deeds even if facing death, thereby having the power to turn away from sins, and by practicing antidotes such as prostrations, thereby having the power to universally apply antidotes, that is, through possessing the four powers, confess all the sins accumulated from beginningless time until obtaining this life. Follow me and repeat these words, first perform detailed or brief prostrations with a slow and longing heart. If there are many teachers, recite with a melodious voice. After that, let them perform the ritual of reciting the Sutra of the Three Heaps three times to confess sins, and then introduce the true meaning. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, it is said: After you have completed the ritual of confessing your sins, in order to introduce the meaning of the true nature, listen carefully without being distracted by other conceptual thoughts. The *Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra* says: 'The mind disturbed by habitual tendencies, appears as external objects, but in reality, there is nothing, only the nature of mind. Seeing external objects as real is inverted.' The *Daśabhūmika Sūtra* says: 'Oh, sons of the Victorious Ones, the three realms are only mind.' Therefore, the external container world and the internal sentient beings appearing in various forms are due to the force of negative habitual tendencies from beginningless time, appearing as if they exist when they do not. Especially for you, in this intermediate state, whatever appears, such as happiness, suffering, good, bad, fear, and so on, is all due to the delusion of the mind, grasping what is non-existent as existent, thereby causing distress. Therefore, do not grasp these as real, but understand them like illusory horses and cattle. Just as the external objects of grasping are not truly established, so too the internal grasping mind is not truly established. The *Aṣṭasāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra* says: 'Mind is no-mind; the nature of mind is luminosity.' The *Ratnakūṭa Sūtra* says: 'Kāśyapa, mind is not inside, not outside, not in between, and is imperceptible.' These teachings explain that when observing the true nature of mind, it does not reside anywhere in the body, whether inside, outside, or in between. Its essence is not established as subtle or coarse form, nor is it established as colors such as white, red, or blue. In short, understand it as the self-luminous nature, like the sky, which even the Buddhas cannot see. Furthermore, the *Bodhicaryāvatāra* says: 'The essence of darkness, the obscurations of afflictions and knowledge, is emptiness. Desiring to quickly attain omniscience, why not diligently cultivate emptiness?' The *Collected Sayings* says: 'Whoever obtains this Prajñāpāramitā, will soon touch the supreme Bodhi of the Victorious Ones.' Therefore, by familiarizing oneself with the wisdom that realizes the non-existence of both the grasped and the grasper, one can destroy the darkness of the two obscurations, increase the qualities of the grounds and paths, and ultimately attain the state of non-abiding Nirvana. Cut off all elaborations of conceptual grasping, and constantly familiarize yourself with all phenomena being free from all elaborations. Even if you meditate in this way, due to the influence of past negative habitual tendencies, if illusions such as fear arise, immediately recognize them as the four bodies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
