Then, establish a square altar measuring four fingers (sor bzhi), to be used as a pedestal. Furthermore, establish a square altar measuring two fingers (sor do), to be used for painting, and decorate it with decorative colors and objects of meditation, as the height of the pedestal. It is said that five-pronged vajras (rdo rje rtse lnga) should be marked on any of the edges (kha khyer) or corners (mu ran), but in practice, it is usually drawn on the corners. Place half-moon vajras (zla phyed rdo rje) on the four corners of the pedestal. In the center of the hearth, in the center of the eight-petaled lotus (padma ‘dab brgyad), place a heap (tshom bu) made of rice or any white pigment. Also place a larger container (ting lo) in the southeast direction. Above the edge, pile up about one cubit (khru gang) high with no more than eight sticks of milk tree, etc., or pile it up in a circle with inanimate dung, etc. Facing east of the world yourself, sit on a white cushion, wearing white clothes, in a cross-legged posture, with a white fire screen in front of you, on which is painted a snow mountain and water patterns with the syllable 'wam'. On the pedestal, place the filled nectar vase (dgang blugs) and the vajra bell (rdo dril) side by side. Prepare the conch shell instrument (dung chos), fragrant water, and sprinkler. On your left, to the right of the hearth, prepare two water offerings as preliminaries. Prepare individual round tormas (rdzong tor) for the yidam and the fire god (me lha). On your right, to the left of the hearth, place poplar branches (yam shing), butter (mar), sesame seeds (til), excellent food (zas mchog), rice (‘bras), soybeans (so ba nas), lentils (sran ma), wheat (gro), durva grass (dur ba), and kusha grass (ku sha), and cover them with cloth. If there are not enough materials, it is also acceptable to use only poplar branches, sesame seeds, and butter. Prepare eight bundles of kusha grass. Prepare all the necessary items such as the fire striker (spor lde), making sure they are complete. The wood used to light the fire should be constantly burning, or obtained from rubbing the milk tree. In the morning, after bathing yourself, recite secret mantras to make up for any omissions, pacify sins and obstacles, and with the desire to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings, perform the practice from the preliminary offerings to the completion stage, just like doing a retreat. Hold the fire striker (spor lde) between your palms, while reciting mani (ma Ni), then circumambulate the hearth three times clockwise. Finally, recite 'oM ba dzra dzwa la raM', light the container with the fire striker, and fan the fire with clean grass or something else. With both hands clenched into fists, extend the two index fingers and two thumbs, forming the supreme mudra of enlightenment (byang chub mchog gi phyag rgyas), holding the nectar vase, touch the pouring spout (blugs gzar) to the mouth of the nectar vase, and pour in butter, circumambulating the hearth three times clockwise, reciting 'oM dzwa la dzwa la raM'. Visualize the nectar water, and recite twenty-one times amrita (a mRi ta). Sprinkle water on the hearth and items with the sprinkler, purifying by reciting 'oM ba dzra ya kSha hUM'. Empty through 'svabhava' (sva bhA va). From emptiness, as described in the ritual, arise from 'oM' etc. Visualize everything as pure and unobstructed, and the items to be burned as pure and pleasing, possessing the power to accomplish peaceful activities. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
