I sleep in ruins. If harmed by epidemics, earth spirits, or stone spirits, I sleep in places like Brama Pabong and Ne'u Sing Chu Jab Jib. If harmed by white demons, male and female knife-wielding ghosts, I sleep in empty houses, dilapidated ruins, remains of the dead, places where men gather, and places where women gather. Wherever I sleep, I continue my practice as before, so that the yogi is not interrupted but is controlled and becomes a Dharma protector. The Compendium of Teachings says: Just as fire burns firewood, fire itself can also burn itself. Just as wounds are treated with bloodletting and cauterization, this is the key to reversing harm and suppressing harm. That is what it says. The actual practice is: If going to the house or bedside of someone suffering from contagious diseases such as boils, intestinal carbuncles, or black smallpox, say Phat (ཕཊ,梵文天城体:फट,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,摧破), abandon attachment to the body, and generate courage and confidence in the mind. Separate body and mind, meditate on the emptiness of the epidemic, then go to the patient's bedside without hesitation, and eat the filth and leftovers from the patient's armpit. Inhale the smell and vapor of the disease into the nose. Swallow it into the stomach, and meditate on it entering the central channel with a "hissing" sound, becoming empty and clear. Have no hesitation or fear. If one becomes ill oneself, suffering from intestinal carbuncles, drink the vomit after turning it around. If suffering from smallpox, pierce the tip and swallow it. If suffering from boils, face the affected area and suck on it. If having a fever, drink urine. Whatever disease one suffers from, the disease itself becomes one's own antidote. The method of dispelling defilement and impurity is: lepers, sinners, disharmonious people, those who have broken vows, those without discipline, sinners such as fishermen, dog keepers, butchers, enemies, widows, and illegitimate children. If defiled by major sins, etc., sleep near them and eat their leftovers. This is the best method of bathing and eliminating defilement. This is the method of purification and cleansing. For example, just as someone who has eaten garlic cannot smell the garlic, one liberates oneself, one becomes one's own antidote. Furthermore, if it is necessary to touch corpses, or sit by stoves and ashes, or sit among enemies, or if it is necessary to wear unclean clothes, or sleep in unclean rooms and beds, or eat food in unclean utensils, or live with defiled friends, or if it is necessary to mix and make contact, do not generate discriminations, but guide with the path of three tastes in equanimity. Destroy the objects of true clinging with emptiness, destroy the attachment of self-grasping with inverted contemplation, and destroy the discriminations of clean and unclean with equanimity of taste. The first is the outer and inner vessel

All phenomena, encompassing the realms of existence and non-existence, and the six classes of beings, are empty from the very beginning. Therefore, there is no distinction between clean and unclean. There is no distinction between delicious and not delicious. There is no distinction between repulsive and not repulsive. There is no distinction between pleasant and unpleasant. Although such appearances arise, they are merely labels applied by our own conceptual thoughts. In reality, not even a single atom exists as truly established. As with the sixteen examples of illusion, it is clearly stated in all the Buddha's teachings, sutras, tantras, and collections of scriptures. It is established through oral instructions and experienced through wisdom. Whether one can realize it or not, whether one can understand it or not, one should contemplate that from the very beginning, it is emptiness and non-substantiality. To overcome the clinging to self-grasping through wrong meditation: Within, the consciousness that clings to clean and unclean is a perception that has not been examined or analyzed. Although it appears repulsive and frightening, upon examination and analysis, it is found to be the creation of false conceptual thoughts. There is not even a hair's breadth of true or real existence in it. Who is the one who finds it repulsive, and what is the object of repulsion? What is clean and what is unclean? What is pure and what is impure? Who is the agent that clings to these? Where is it? Who is it? What does it look like? Thinking in this way, let the appearance be clearly seen as devoid of truth, let it be cast into emptiness, and let it be meditated upon as non-existent. To overcome the conceptual thoughts of clean and unclean through equal taste: For that which is frightening and shameful, and that which is repulsive and unbearable, from the perspective of the previous two meanings, trample upon it, chase after it, equalize the taste, and think, "You, the agent of repulsion, if you are repulsive, then take it away!" If unclean food appears, swallow it in one gulp. If unclean drink appears, gulp it down. In an unclean place, lie down quietly. If the clothes are unclean, put them on quickly. Mix freely with lepers and those with contagious diseases, without hesitation. Mix closely with male lepers, sinners, and those with defilements. For this mind-essence, there is no difference between clean and unclean, just as in the sky there is no difference between incense and a rotting corpse. This body, composed of the four elements, is itself the nature of impurity. Because it is the owner, the container, and the body, there is no increase or decrease of clean or unclean for it, just as pouring water into water does not increase it, and adding fire to fire does not burn it. Just as applying black to charcoal does not make it blacker, so too, pouring impurity into impurity does not make it pure.
