No matter what is done, even if so many transformations are manifested, all those cannot create obstacles for the wise. Thus it is said. Some practitioners of Chöd, when going to practice Chöd, as soon as a sign of begging appears, immediately perform the boundary reversal, because they do not understand the temperature of Chöd. Do not perform the reversal at the very beginning of the begging. The type of gods and demons is primary, the method of magical power is primary, and the timing of Chöd is primary. If you encounter a fierce and violent god or demon, then perform the boundary reversal; if it is gentle, there is no need to do it. If the magical power is too great, then do it; if it is small, there is no need to do it. After the Chöd is finished, if nothing can be resolved, then do it; there is no need to do it from the beginning. Some Chöd practitioners say that the unresolved residual Chöd, or stopping the Chöd, or interrupting and returning before reaching completion. Prince Gyalwa Döndrup said that the type of person is primary, the Chöd practitioner has realization, inwardly realizing selflessness, outwardly realizing no demons, even returning in the middle of practicing Chöd is permissible. Abandoning attachment to the body and stopping the Chöd, or losing the Chöd without reaching completion, there will be no return or obstacles, because all these are done by the mind. Now, if you think of interrupting the Chöd and looking for a way to return, that itself is a great return obstacle. Those are the choices of boundary reversal. Subduing with the Great Vehicle: Outwardly, it is the obstacle of demons, inwardly, it is pleasure and pain, attachment and aversion, liking and disliking, etc. No matter how many gross and subtle thoughts arise, not paying attention to non-thought, subduing with the view of the Great Vehicle, subduing at the root, placing it underfoot, making it unable to rise. For example, the moon in the sky is also subdued by the light of the sun, and all the great stars are placed under the feet of the sun and cannot function. Similarly, the yogi who understands the view, no matter how many gross and subtle thoughts like stars arise, such as the obstacles of demons outwardly and attachment, aversion, the eight worldly dharmas, etc. inwardly, subduing with the view like the sun of not paying attention to non-thought, making it unable to rise. Subduing the fierce with the fierce: Outwardly, the dragon palace is fierce, but even fiercer than that is the nature of mind that understands the view. The dragon palace appears fierce because it is considered a fierce place, but in reality, there is no reason for fierceness, it is conventional truth.

Since it is fabricated and compounded, it is capable of being destroyed. It can be burned, it can be cut. For the mind-essence that realizes the view, it cannot be cut, and nothing can destroy it. Likewise, the city of demons is fierce on the outside, but even fiercer than that is emptiness, which realizes the meaning of mind-essence. The city of demons is above it. The palace of Yama, the gathering place of the Matrikas, the realm of the king, the fortress of the Tsen spirits, and so on, to go to all these places with the confidence of realization, without fear or hesitation, is called subduing fierceness upon fierceness. The false cave of conventionality collapses, conceptual thoughts are completely pacified, and self-grasping departs from its realm. Gods and demons are the Dharma of illusory dissolution, for example, wherever a beggar goes, because he has no wealth, no enemies will arise. Because the cutter has no self-grasping, no demons will arise. If you are fierce, cruel, and have great magical powers, you will subdue the gods and demons. If you must provoke a quarrel, adopt the behavior of a madman. If you show magical powers there, then die happily. With a mind of love for all beings, seize them with the iron hook of compassion. This passage, in general, is the teaching of the Chöd practitioners, not to compete with gods and demons, not to initiate competition, not to transmit harm, to take a lower position, to accept defeat, and whatever happens, whether happiness or suffering, to hope to offer the body in the end. No matter what you do, you will not grow old, and even if you call out "Take it!", they will not listen, so at times you must adopt the behavior of a madman, and you must mix with corpses. Verbally, at times, if you do not let go of the wild state of awareness, you will not be able to subdue the earth with subtle yoga. The behavior of a madman is to cut fierce trees, overturn fierce earth, split fierce rocks, dig fierce meadows, not to cut thorns, stir up springs, and so on. Even if you do not transmit harm, in the end I cannot transcend death. Even if you protect on the basis of not harming, you cannot seize my life. Ultimately, if in the realm of hell, one's own karma does not reverse, then even if all appearances, existence, gods, and demons reverse, they cannot be abandoned. Two or three days of life are neither long nor short. Act as if you will die tonight, and perform rough actions. Destroy the objects of reliance, palaces, and dwelling places, and do not return home, but sleep with your head facing them. Whatever magical powers appear in dreams, when you wake up,
