Without being alarmed, joyful, content, and pleased, it appears in various ways. So it is said. In the 'Net of Means,' it says: Among those sentient beings, those with sharp faculties by nature will give rise to unwavering samadhi. So it is said. Also, in the common sutra 'The Explanation of the Thought That Determines the Meaning,' it says: Some are sharp in faculties by nature, while others remain dull. So it is said. And in the 'Treasury,' it says: Some are of that kind from the beginning, while others are transformed through training. So it is said, and so on. Therefore, fundamentally, there are sharp and dull faculties, and it is said that through training, dullness can also be transformed into sharpness. Among the two ways in which the sharp enter Maha, the sudden way is when one has not trained in any vehicle before, nor has one trained in any vehicle here, and enters Maha and Ati. The gradual way is when one has not entered or trained in anything before, but here, starting from Maha, one enters any of the three or one in succession, and then enters Ati. Thus, depending on whether one has entered a vehicle or not, they are called gradual and sudden. Those two, from the beginning, spontaneously accomplished appearance body, renowned speech, the meaning of the mandala of awareness mind is understood and accomplished, those with sharp faculties and vast views are quickly liberated. In the Stages of the Path, it says: Some with sharp faculties, enter the Great Vehicle in two ways, because of the three unlearned accomplishments, high, stable, quick, sharp, vast, deep, vast, the individual of the cause, oneself and conditions and that successively, dividing the great causes and effects, uncertain entry and right here. So it is said. Here, being extremely ignorant of the tenets of oneself and others, not turning the mind towards the Great Vehicle, being enveloped in the darkness of jealousy, bound by the endless wrinkles of anger, those evil-minded ones who turn their own virtuous accumulations into evil say: Fundamentally, there should be no sharp and dull faculties, because everything is completely dull, so training can transform it, what you say is inverted. If that is the case, then even if trained, it remains dull, and it should not be transformed into sharpness, just as no matter how much coal is trained, it will not turn into gold. What is the answer to this? Please give the scripture.

It is also harmful. As the Avatamsaka Sutra says: "All fields are various, some are adorned with jewels, some are the abode of all defilements. All beings are also different, some have good minds and are very pure, endowed with excellent faculties and powers, some are ignorant and completely dark. The nature of the roots is different, and the wisdom appears differently. Likewise, colors, shapes, happiness, suffering, etc., are endowed with self-nature like the measure of the ocean." This is also contradictory. Second, the vessel to be trained refers to those who have practiced various vehicles from previous lives. There are also two types: gradual practitioners, who have practiced all vehicles in the past and even earlier, and who also enter all vehicles in sequence here, eventually entering Atiyoga. As mentioned earlier: "Therefore, for those with undetermined lineage, those dark knowledges reside in the sickness of the self-nature cause, when the eight ordinary consciousnesses come to an end, the path-stage is practiced to completion beforehand." Sudden practitioners are those who have practiced everything in the past and even earlier, but who do not enter or practice anything here, and directly enter Atiyoga itself. As mentioned earlier: "Some reach the end all at once, having practiced as many kalpas as dust particles in the past. At the end of practicing the commonalities, they gradually practice and proceed all at once." Regarding this, GLan rDo rJe 'Od believes that the previous practice refers to practicing the Hinayana and Mahayana Paramita at the beginning of this life, and then abandoning the outer tantras to enter. If this is the case, then it cannot truly become a sudden practice. If we assume that one has already entered the direct path, then a sudden practitioner refers to quickly obtaining the result, and abandoning some previous paths to practice the later paths. A gradual practitioner refers to the sequence as described earlier. These are also divided into two types according to the way of entering: with attachment and without attachment. Second, what is practiced, the actual sequence of the path, has two aspects: the common path and the uncommon path. First, some with undetermined lineage may not be able to enter if the lower vehicle's path-stage is not shown first. Therefore, in order to guide them, the common path is shown temporarily. As this tantra says: "The arrangement of the different grounds is also the path to the secret essence." And "The renunciation of the four vehicles abides in the fruit of one vehicle." Second,
