Who strikes? Everything arises from causeless nature. This is a slander against cause and effect. These are called Pūraṇa Kāśyapa, Sañjaya Vairāṭīputra, Makkhali Gosāla, and Ajita Kesakambalī. Second, to state the particularly held views. As stated in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "The enjoyer is permanent, the real, not the agent, the self. Qualities are not made, contemplated by the Samkhyas. Based on slight differences in these, the tenets of the heretics become diverse." Therefore, the mother of the philosophical tenets of most heretics is the Samkhya school. All who assert permanence and annihilation believe in the self and the chief. Those who assert permanence believe it through various reasons, and those who assert annihilation also acknowledge that the self arises from itself and simultaneously arises suddenly. Among them, the Samkhyas believe that all knowable things are contained within the self and the chief. There are five points here: namely, the self and the chief, the ways to know them, the faults of not knowing, and the virtues of knowing. The first is: the self is the person (purusha) of sentient beings, which is the permanent, single, independent consciousness, separate from action and agent, is profound, resides in the bag of the chief of nature-cause, is hidden and unseen by anyone, and is considered to have five characteristics. The second is about the chief, which is divided into two: the chief of nature-cause, which is the three of pleasure, pain, and equanimity, or the three of attachment, hatred, and ignorance, or other names such as sattva, rajas, and tamas, these three gunas are in equilibrium, is a permanent substance, is the only one, is the cause that generates all transformations, is not generated by anyone, is hidden and unseen even by the sage Kapila, and has five characteristics. The teacher Bla Rab says that the sage Kapila can see it, but others cannot. The chief of transformation-result is the nature of the three gunas, and because it is not in equilibrium, it is a substance that manifests in many impermanent states. If divided, there are twenty-three. The first is the "Great," the second is "Intelligence," the third is the "Inner Agent," also called "Consciousness," like the two sides of a mirror, capable of reflecting both internal and external images, having the aspect of clinging to the object as "This is..." Therefore, the idea of "I have a share" arises, thus giving rise to the pride of considering oneself as one with the self. If divided, there are those born from cause and those born from elements.

There are three types of ego arising from transformation. Although they are three, they are generally known as ego. Among them, the first ego generates eleven senses: the five cognitive senses of ear, tongue, body, and eye; the five action senses of mouth, hand, foot, genitals, and anus; and the mind, which is both, making eleven in total. The second ego generates the five "thatness" of sound, smell, taste, color, and touch. From these "thatness" arise the five great elements of space, earth, water, fire, and wind in order. The third ego has no unique result that serves as an assistant to the previous two egos. These principles are stated in the "Black Lord of Power" scripture: "From nature arises the great, from the great arises ego, in which there are sixteen aggregates. These sixteen also arise from those, from the five arise the five great elements." Thus, among the twenty-four tattvas, nature is the ultimate truth, and the twenty-three transformations are considered conventional truth. "The excellence of the three gunas (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) does not transform into the path of seeing. Whatever transforms into the path of seeing is very illusory, like a mirage." So it is said. These are the twenty-four main material entities. On top of that, with consciousness, the self and the twenty-five tattvas are the twenty-five knowable objects. Third, there are two ways to understand these: the way to understand cause and effect, and the way the purusha enjoys the pradhana. The first is: nature is only the cause, the great, ego, and the five "thatness" are both cause and effect, the eleven senses and the five elements are only the effect, and the purusha is considered neither cause nor effect. "Nature is the agent but not the action, the great and the seven others are both the agent and the action, the sixteen are the action, the purusha is neither the action nor the agent." So it is said. The way of arising is that the purusha arises from nature alone, so cause and effect are considered the same nature. The process of arising is also just making what already exists manifest, and it is not considered that something that did not exist before will newly arise. The way of destruction is also just temporarily pacifying or manifesting for a kalpa, and it is not reasonable to think that nature will be completely destroyed, which is impermanence. The second is: happiness and so on are not clearly present in the nature of pradhana, but what is clear is three
