Those who are seen and unseen, and even the spiritual friends who guide others on the path, are moved by the wind of jealousy, not remaining impartial. This heart is saddened by the burning flames of attachment and aversion. Although everyone holds themselves to be sacred, they revile others and display bad thoughts and actions. This heart is saddened by seeing the image of a Dharma practitioner without turning their mind towards the four immeasurables. Even though they show the places of knowledge well by teaching exactly and without error, this heart is saddened when people of dark minds say that great wisdom is the lama's fault. In this world, all beings, whatever wealth, happiness, suffering, high or low they may have, do not know that it is all accumulated by their own karma, but instead inflict the sting of jealousy, this heart is saddened. Whether dwelling near or far, unable to bear the happiness of others, they are completely burned by the flames of burning attachment and aversion, and manifestly create harm. This heart is saddened by this distorted view of affliction. Even if not remembered in a dream, actually seeing it, they manifestly scold those who are as innocent as dust, fabricating various accusations. This heart is saddened by being tormented by strong attachment and aversion. Claiming to be in a good state themselves, even if they think that appearance has been established in their minds, they are jealous of others and have internal contradictions with each other. This heart is saddened by these images of Dharma practitioners. There is no end to speaking of such faults, like the countless stars of the night. Wouldn't it be better to abandon these and practice peace alone in a peaceful forest? Nowadays, it is difficult to endure the people of this degenerate age, and it is difficult to accomplish encouraging others to do good. It is reasonable to completely abandon those who create the causes of evil and practice the true Dharma alone in solitude. From the chapter on manifesting weariness with the times, the fifth chapter showing weariness with friends and spiritual companions. They accomplish their own desires and find peace of mind by hindering others, and even if they consider it true because they are accustomed to jealousy, they are troubled by weariness because their own retinue does evil. After generating the Bodhicitta of pure intention and essence, even if they accomplish benefit without hypocrisy for the various disciples without near or far, there is no time of satisfaction. Thinking of the retinue of the degenerate age, the heart of weariness increases. At first, they are seen as gods, especially the newcomers. In the middle, they are seen as humans, teachers and students go.
