The Vajra Song of Ground Liberation. Spoken by the yogi Longchen Rabjam, may it be virtuous! ༈ Namo Guru Bhyaḥ (藏文,梵文天城体,namo guru bhyaḥ,Homage to the Guru). When the unequaled Dharma Lord Lama himself was residing in Gyama Gang, and was afflicted by a severe epidemic illness, when all those nearby urged him to take medicine and so forth, the great accomplished one sang this song of joy, death, and happiness: The great bliss that does not change, To the ocean of Samantabhadra Buddhas, I prostrate at the feet of the Dharma Lord Lama. All you fortunate ones who are alive for a moment, Have practiced the meaning of Dharma from the beginning, Adverse circumstances arise as friends of awareness. If you make repairs, you are not a yogi, Being sick, happy, dying, and joyful is yoga. The king of doctors, Jivaka, has come, Promising to heal and keep alive, But I have no need for medicine, Being sick, happy, dying, and joyful is yoga. The Lord of Secrets, Vajrapani, has come, Promising to protect and be victorious, But there is no need to ask for the blessing of a pillow guardian, Being sick, happy, dying, and joyful is yoga. The venerable Avalokiteśvara has come, Promising to accumulate merit and avert, But there is no need to request tsatsas and tormas, Being sick, happy, dying, and joyful is yoga. The wise noble Manjushri has come, Promising to deceive with rituals, But there is no need for ransom offerings and auspicious connections, Being sick, happy, dying, and joyful is yoga. Seeing all as untrue illusions, Not having attachment to accumulating and hoarding, Therefore, never having possessed illusory wealth, There is no need to perform purification rituals, Being sick, happy, dying, and joyful is yoga. There is no rosary in my mind, There is nothing to leave as a will, It seems a line is missing, check Being sick, happy, dying, and joyful is yoga. Having practiced the meaning of immortal awareness, The aggregates of the four elements will always be abandoned, The nature of awareness has seized the stronghold, Being sick, happy, dying, and joyful is yoga. This song was sung by Yenpa Lodro, May it be manifest when encountering the conditions of virtue, Do not forget these words, hold them in your mind, May you attain the supreme great bliss through virtue. Cutting the rope of attachment. The Vajra Song of Joy, Death, and Happiness. Spoken by the yogi Longchen Rabjam, may it be virtuous! ༈ Namo Guru Bhyaḥ (藏文,梵文天城体,namo guru bhyaḥ,Homage to the Guru). Again, at that time, taking adverse circumstances onto the path, he sang this song of Nawalam So. Always abiding in a state of joy and bliss, Perfecting the two benefits of self and others.

Auspicious! I prostrate at the feet of the incomparable Lama. Listen once again, all fortunate ones, illness is a prompting condition for the Dharma. I have no mind to abandon what is unpleasant. Practice requires both happiness and suffering. Listen as I explain clearly to you. Illness abandons attachment to this life. Remember impermanence and death that follows. In any case, unnecessary thoughts arise in the mind. Illness is a clear indication of abandoning attachment. Illness gives rise to faith and renunciation. In any case, remember the Dharma itself, which is not beneficial. From the depths of the heart, arise weariness and sorrow. Illness is a clear indication of the path to liberation. Illness is a prompting condition for accumulating the two accumulations. Plant the seeds of generosity and giving. Leave imprints on white deeds. Illness is a clear indication of virtue. Illness exhausts past bad karma. Subdue present karma and afflictions. By suppressing future bad karma, illness is a clear indication of purification of obscurations. Illness, in the future, in the lower realms, brings the suffering that will surely arise here. It is the most supreme among all antidotes. Illness is a clear indication of happiness and well-being. Illness reverses attachment to the aggregates. Abandon attachment to one's own and others' bodies. When attachment and aversion, afflictions, naturally cease, illness is a clear indication of definite goodness. Illness gives rise to compassion and devotion. Blessings enter and realization arises. Superior wisdom arises in devotion to the Dharma. Illness is a clear indication of the good path. Having remembered the benefits of illness, in order to dispel the diseases of all sentient beings, intensely visualize oneself as being ill. Painful groaning is the sound of supplication. By looking, instant liberation, blessings. Illness is a clear indication of the good path. By looking inward at the mind of illness, the essence is emptiness, the nature is clear. The manner of appearance is unceasing, appearing as anything. Illness is a clear indication of the three bodies. Illness unites awareness with the realm of reality. By examining, in the state of emptiness without object. In its own place, primordially, completely relaxed. Illness is a clear indication of the Dharmakaya. Illness finds the self-arisen awareness of clarity and emptiness. By examining, abiding in the self-nature of meditation. Without interruption, naked and bare. Illness is the Sambhogakaya.
