Accomplishing Excellence. Hearing is the source of all virtues. Whoever is relied upon by the great and old, and protects beings by knowing what to accept and reject, follows the good path of hearing from the past. Hearing is the source of all virtues. The politics and agriculture of each country, and the good discussions and achievements of good and bad, also follow the good path of hearing from the past. Hearing is the source of all virtues. The excellent crafts that are the ornaments of all, and the altruistic sciences, medicine, etc., also follow the good path of hearing from the past. Hearing is the source of all virtues. The brave and skillful destroy enemy armies, and wise women increase children and wealth, also follow the good path of hearing from the past. Hearing is the source of all virtues. Servants work and live on meager wages, and even beggars manage their food and drink, all follow the good path of hearing from the past. Hearing is the source of all virtues. Those who seek peace in this world and beyond, also rely on the good path by knowing what to accept and reject, and diligently engage in accomplishing the benefit of themselves and others, therefore hearing is the source of all virtues. Hearing makes one know everything, dispels the darkness of ignorance, can instruct others, radiates a thousand rays of goodness, protects from all faults, and is always auspicious. Hearing is the source of all virtues. Beings who are certain to enter the three vehicles also become aware of their own state through hearing, and all temporary and ultimate good is accomplished, therefore hearing is the source of all virtues. The sons of the Buddhas also travel the good path and traverse the lands by hearing the door of the Dharma and the meaning of the vehicles, and enter the path of a million vast samadhis. Hearing is the source of all virtues. The Buddhas guide and benefit beings, taming beings and transforming their minds, all follow the aspiration of hearing from the past. Hearing is the source of all virtues. Those who newly enter any vehicle also follow the path of the holy ones of pure hearing, and all others also enter in the same way, therefore hearing is the source of all virtues. Hearing is as vast and stainless as the sky, as stable as a mountain, as the basis of all like the earth, as clear as the ocean, and fulfills desires.

The mind's wish-fulfilling place. One should rely on the abode of the virtuous. Hearing is the supreme protection, protecting against all faults. It eliminates the suffering of wandering in samsara without a protector. It releases from fear and removes the river of suffering. One should rely on the abode of the virtuous. Hearing is unparalleled among all abodes. One should practice in the excellent and precious Dharma palace. The profound and vast words and meanings are adorned by virtue. One should rely on the abode of the virtuous. Hearing is the most beautiful among all ornaments. It is marked by virtue and is pleasing to all. It is also worthy of praise by the gods. One should rely on the abode of the virtuous. Hearing is the most noble among all wealth. It is not stolen by thieves or kings, and it is always independent, possessing perfect abundance. One should rely on the abode of the virtuous. Hearing is the eye of wisdom among all eyes. It can see visible and invisible forms, is not obscured by grossness, and is unobstructed in any place. One should rely on the abode of the virtuous. Hearing is the excellent meaning among all meanings. It can transform according to desire and fulfill all wishes. It is more auspicious and increasing than divine treasures. One should rely on the abode of the virtuous. In short, in all Dharma and worldly matters, true hearing of the virtuous is most cherished. Therefore, to accomplish all the good of this life and the next, and to achieve all meanings, one should rely on hearing. After saying this, the darkness of delighting in ignorance was dispelled, and joy arose in practicing hearing. Then, that ordained person thought, hearing is a treasure trove of jewels, it is good to rely on, but meditation is extremely difficult to practice, so I cannot practice it, and after thinking this, he said: With the nature of wisdom and compassion, from the strong bow of great compassion, the arrow of the virtuous Dharma's Brahma sound is shot, destroying the army of wrong views of those to be tamed, I am the king of rabbits. The nature of meditation is difficult to practice, therefore I live. Extreme peace is difficult to achieve, and abiding in meaning without distraction is a burden on the mind. It is difficult to become accustomed to the equanimity of samadhi, therefore, entering into meditation practice is extremely difficult. There are also many meditations to be practiced, and one does not know which is truly suitable or which is profound. Although there are many methods and paths, few truly reach the peak. Entering into meditation practice is extremely difficult. Even if one abandons this life and prepares to practice,
