Amazing how the goddess of the ocean of wisdom's giving rivals! This is the one and only supreme nature; other great poets are not. Not everyone can write it all down; look at the manifestation of the qualities of nature. The lotus emerges from the mud, and the drinker rises upright from the earth. You ascend above all beings, simply like a jewel in the sky. In the past, there was a wise rabbit, known for its virtuous fame as being on the path of the gods, who drew a figure on the surface of the moon's center; you have made that fame even clearer. Skilled in teaching, like parents among beings, an unsurpassed helmsman for those who desire liberation. Crossing the great river is like sailing a boat, fulfilling all wishes; you are the supreme wish-fulfilling jewel. From countless eons, like dust motes in the ocean, having perfectly completed the vast accumulation of merit and wisdom, to the wondrous and amazing manifestations of the Buddhas, I prostrate with reverence, waving a thousand wings of faith. Having said this, he made offerings with his palms full of flowers, and then that supreme rabbit said: Rare are those who speak sweetly, and therefore rare are those who listen attentively. Friends, if you also wish to become good, spend your days and nights constantly in Dharma. Hold these sweet teachings in your mind, keep helpful advice in your heart, listen to loving and kind advice, and spread this place widely to others. Having said this, that supreme rabbit returned to its own abode. Therefore, those who desire liberation should respectfully rely on virtuous friends, and then, regarding the profound teachings, they should adopt and abandon appropriately, listen respectfully to the kind advice of others, and widely proclaim the virtues of noble beings. Just as in a lotus lake filled with immeasurable water, gradually increasing, various beautiful images appear, so too, in the ocean of wisdom where the eye of wisdom and compassion is greatly expanded, the images of beautiful poetry appear. This principle, in the vast sky of wisdom, shines thousands of rays of light from the sun of discriminating wisdom, for the sake of causing the lotus flowers of benefit and happiness to bloom, and for the sake of those fortunate ones who desire liberation, it is proclaimed. Here, ornate language is not given priority, but rather, the excellence of meaning is emphasized.

Through the power of the letter "Ah," I will explain the meaning of the profound instructions on the principles of acceptance and rejection, so that it may be easily understood by all beings. By arranging these as if they happened in the past, may they serve as a gift of wondrous tales for people of the present and all times in the future, and I have composed them well, thinking that they may benefit others. Through this virtue, may I and all beings enter well into the precious chariot of the sacred Dharma, and within the garden of liberation and peace, may we attain the state of deathless Nirvana. May this wish-fulfilling tree of words and meanings, which guides well, with its branches of composition and leaves of metaphor, and with its nature of poetic flowers and fruitful results, delight the flocks of birds of faithful beings. Thus, the well-taught tale of the wise rabbit's Jataka, like the great drum of the gods, is completed.
