From this very day, you will attain the Buddha's intention! Thus shall the prophecy be made. Third, clearing obstacles through conduct has three aspects: conduct of self-liberation of afflictions, conduct of mastering appearances, and conduct of asceticism opening the path. The first is: From the chapter "Without Acceptance or Rejection," it says, "Even the five desires, understand that they are enjoyed by the mind." And also, from the chapter "Undiminishing Banner of Victory," it says, "Even desire, hatred, and ignorance, arise from the path of great enlightenment. All conduct, the five desirable qualities, are said to be the adornment of the dharmata realm." And also, from "Effortless Perfection, Ungraspable Meditation," it says, "Contradictory to all, a dharma abandoned by the entire world, the five afflictions, the five inexpiable sins, if one enters that pure path, one obtains the kingdom of equality. All, including women, are not abandoned." Thus it is said. Therefore, there are two aspects to this: the conduct of desirable qualities as the place where afflictions arise, and the conduct of self-liberation of afflictions by not clinging to acceptance or rejection of them. The first is: Whatever appears as pleasing forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile sensations, from the perspective of the object of dharma (chos can), like a dream or illusion, use the appearance of emptiness, sound emptiness, smell emptiness, taste emptiness, touch emptiness, the unreal appearance loosely, clearly, and lightly! From the perspective of dharmata, as in the chapter "Speaking of the Emptiness of One's Own Mind," look greatly at that appearance itself. By letting go, the knowledge that there is no grasping there arises as non-dual self-liberation. Such conduct makes appearance the adornment of dharmata, therefore it is called "the adornment of the realm of desirable qualities." The second is: Whatever arises, whether it be desire, hatred, ignorance, pride, or jealousy, allow its power to fully manifest. Recognize it in the first instant, before karma is accumulated. In the second instant, look greatly at it and let go. Thus, whatever of the five poisons arises, without abandoning it, it is liberated in its own place, and transforms into the great wisdom of bliss-clarity, non-conceptual. That is to say, desire transforms into the wisdom of discerning bliss and emptiness separately, hatred transforms into the wisdom of clarity and emptiness like a mirror, ignorance transforms into the wisdom of appearance and emptiness, the realm of dharma, pride transforms into the wisdom of awareness and emptiness, equality, and jealousy transforms into the wisdom of awareness and emptiness, accomplishing activities. It arises without abandoning like the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and without purifying like the Bodhisattvas.
