You made that former aspiration. Virtuous hero, remember your former deeds, Remember the vow you made to benefit beings. That is also, If you become a Buddha in the place of immortality and freedom from sorrow, Satisfy the weary with the nectar of meditation, You should remember the words you spoke before, Quickly depart from this sacred city. After being urged in this way, resolving to renounce, with longing, he drove the chariot and went to the four directions of the city. Seeing the four rivers of birth, old age, sickness, and death, and the image of a renunciate who had escaped from them and entered the path of liberation, Old age, sickness, and death will come, If these three do not come, I will also greatly rejoice in these lovely lands. Thus, thinking of their suffering, he returned to reside in the palace for seven days, and then resolved to renounce. On the last night when the city was guarded by soldiers and he was not allowed to leave, after paying homage to his father, he rode on a horse with mantras, and the four great kings lifted the four hooves and ascended into the sky. In front of the pure stupa, he personally shaved his own hair and became a renunciate. He returned the horse and the king's garments. The gods of the thirty-three heavens invited the hair and built a stupa for the hair and nails. After exchanging the linen clothes for robes, in Vaishali, he learned all the samadhis from the son of Skillful Art, Rinpul, except for the realm of nothingness, and showed the manner of meditation. In Rajgir, he learned all the samadhis from the son of Delightful Action, Lhaksyö, up to the peak of existence.
