Sa. That (mind-essence) needs to be pacified in the sphere of non-conceptualization. It is said in the Two Truths: "Mind and mental events are the three realms, conceptualizations with imputed aspects." And in the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life: "When conceptualizations are pacified, one should meditate on the mind of enlightenment." And in the Introduction: "When the mind ceases, that is manifested by the body." And Dharmakirti in his Praise of Manjushri says: "Conceptualization is great ignorance, it is the cause of falling into the ocean of samsara. Because you are free from conceptualization, you are always in nirvana." And in the Precious Secret Tantra of Introducing the Buddha: "O Lord of Secrets, I have said that all minds and mental events are the dharmas of samsara." Therefore, the very nature of the conceptualizations of mind and mental events has repeatedly made us weary and tired in samsara. Now, we should rest in the resting place of the non-conceptual wisdom dharmadhatu, the Prajnaparamita, where all elaborations are pacified. For this purpose, we vow to compose this treatise on entering the path of reality and resting therein. As it says at the end of the Twenty Thousand Lights and in the small commentary on the Ornament of Clear Realization: "Alas! For those wearied by various treatises, the system of Prajnaparamita is a place of rest, long desired." This is in accordance with the above statement. If combined with the base, it is appropriate for the mind-essence to rest. The mind, long indulged in illusion, the guest wearied by samsara, is the collection of all kinds of conceptualizations. The resting place of the mind-essence is to abide without alteration in the state of pacified elaboration. Just as tired guests naturally relax in a resting place, and body, speech, and mind abide in peace and rest. Therefore, resting in the mind-essence, the elaboration of the mind of the three doors wearied by samsara, resting in self-pacification, this is the entrance to the supreme path of liberation. Toktsé said: "Weary guests of the mind-essence, rest in freedom from elaboration! Original, natural, and spontaneous, is the Great Seal beyond the intellect." And in the Treasury of Unborn Jewels: "Not conceptualizing anywhere, not

Do not think, do not fabricate, let it be naturally relaxed. That which is not fabricated is the unborn treasure trove. It is the footprint of all Buddhas of the three times. Thus it is said. Regarding the refutation of "Meditation Rest": Is it not inappropriate to call your treatise "Meditation Rest"? Because meditation itself is non-conceptual, there is no fatigue whatsoever. There are two answers to that. Combined with certainty: It is appropriate to call it "Meditation Rest". Because worldly meditation, the non-conceptual, self-luminous samadhi, is the object of the mind of the three realms, these are also like tired guests wandering in samsara. Therefore, it must be passed through liberation, the supreme, the resting place of meditation beyond the world, the special union of wisdom and samadhi, the special vipassana. Those worldly meditations, because they are not grasped by special wisdom, will not become the path, because they are not the special samadhi of vipassana. Here, the special meditation of the gate beyond the world, is the antidote to obscurations, is the supreme path that necessarily liberates from samsara, is the place of rest. The Suhrllekha says: Without meditation there is no wisdom, without wisdom there is no meditation, whoever has these two should seek the ocean of samsara like the trace of a bird in the black sea. Thus it is said. Combined with the base: It is appropriate to call it "Meditation Rest". Because true meditation, beyond the extremes of elaboration, that itself is the special resting place for the tired minds of guests in samsara. That is, there is no grasping concept for objects appearing as forms, etc., and there is no grasping concept for the nature of the mind of inner objects. The mind without an object is a special place of rest. The Bodhicaryavatara says: When things and non-things do not remain before the mind, then there is no other aspect, and it is completely pacified in objectlessness. Thus it is said. Regarding the refutation of "Illusion Rest": Is it not inappropriate to call your treatise "Illusion Rest"? Because illusion is empty in nature, therefore there is no fatigue or rest for it.
