Thinking about "What should I do with this?" etc., abandon the sorrows that hinder the Dharma and listen. Also, generate joy, respect, and faith, abandon the obscurations such as sleepiness and dullness, and the afflictions such as pride, and do not aim for the bad and defiled things of this life, but only aim for liberation. For the benefit of sentient beings, I will listen to this Dharma and make it benefit my mindstream. Generate this special longing and desire and listen, so that listening will become stainless glory. This is very important, because the first gate to the path of Dharma is listening, and it is necessary to not make mistakes from the beginning. The noble Sutra of Gathering the Excellent Qualities of Jewels says: "The supreme of joy, respect, and faith is the near cause, eliminating obscurations and afflictions, transcending defilements. Manifestly entering for the benefit of beings, the wisdom that has certainty goes beyond. Whoever enjoys these glories, please listen." As it is said in the sutra. Third, the nature of what should be done in common has three aspects: First, the preparation is to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. For this purpose, generate the mind to listen to the Dharma. Listen to the one who teaches the Dharma of the Paramitas, understanding the characteristics of the Sugata and the four types of disciples in his retinue individually. In the Mantrayana, understand the mandala as one, and listen clearly visualizing the main deity and the retinue. Alternatively, visualize the teacher as Manjushri, and rays of Dharma light emanating from his mouth, shining on the disciple, and visualize the light dissolving into the disciple's ears. Here, one can do as one pleases. The main part is that both the speaker and the listener should not be distracted from the words and meaning of the Dharma, and hold the mind in one-pointed concentration. Finally, the dedication is to dedicate the merit to sentient beings, and remember the impermanence, the dream-like and illusory nature of the Dharma, and the kindness of the teacher. By speaking and listening in this way, the six perfections are completed: Arranging the Dharma seat and offerings is generosity, guarding the three doors of body, speech, and mind while listening is discipline, enduring harm such as at that time is patience, urging the lama to teach the Dharma is diligence, listening without distraction is meditation, and asking questions with observation and analysis to eliminate doubts is wisdom. All the key instructions for Dharma practice are in the Ornament for Clear Realization. A seat of flowers

Etc., offer them well. Restrain the behavior of the place where you are, and do not harm all sentient beings. Pray to the Lama, do not be distracted, and hold the Lama's teachings. Ask about faults in signs and external things. Tara has six limbs. (Above) It is said. The six of the teacher on the face are: Speaking well is giving, restraining afflictions is discipline, enduring suffering is patience, focusing on speaking is diligence, not being distracted from there is meditation, and distinguishing the meaning of words is wisdom. Manjushri has six limbs. This is called a summary word. Third, the benefit of speaking and listening is: If someone speaks about the true Dharma, then among all the gifts, the gift of Dharma is the most supreme benefit. In all lifetimes, he holds the treasure of Dharma, and the Tathagata and his retinue will remember him, constantly remembering his lifetimes, hearing the Dharma from the Buddha, and quickly attaining Buddhahood, etc. Listening purifies the obscurations of the mind, cuts off the bonds of doubt, is always inseparable from the sacred Dharma, obtains the Dharani of Dharma, will not fall into evil destinies, is protected by the gods, has fewer diseases and harms, and quickly attains Buddhahood, etc. By gaining the eye of wisdom, one is liberated from samsara. The Uttaratantra says: Because this is the supreme wisdom, its cause is listening. Also, the Samgraha says: After fully understanding the nature of Dharma with wisdom, one is quickly liberated from all three realms. Thus, the general explanation of how Dharma arises has been determined. The second general meaning is to explain the meaning of the present in detail, which is divided into two: establishing connections with five general principles, and determining with four necessary branches of connection. First, the Pramanavarttika says: Those who want to speak about the meaning of the Sutra should give a little instruction. Among them, the instruction is this: It should be explained with the necessary meaning, including refutations and answers, including connections, and including the meaning of words. In conjunction with this, this treatise approximates expression with five meanings. First, the necessary meaning is about rest.

These three commentaries are arranged together so that a fortunate individual can easily understand and enter the stages of hearing, contemplating, and meditating. This is a sacred method for accomplishing both temporary and ultimate goals, which is its purpose. By relying on this, the path to liberation will be clarified, the teachings of the Sugata will endure for a long time, and the categories of Dharma of the Great Perfection of Self-Nature will flourish and expand in the world, which is also a special and supreme purpose. The condensed meaning is: it completely and accurately explains the three aspects of the ground view, the path of meditation, and the conduct of friends. The meaning of the words: as in the case of explaining the scriptures extensively. The connection between the preceding and following: First, when a person enters the path, it is important to establish the foundation of the Dharma. Therefore, in the nature of the thirteen chapters of "Resting the Mind Itself," starting from the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, the foundation of the view that does not abide in the two extremes is extensively explained. The order of the partial path and the result is also explained in a supplementary way. In this way, after understanding the ground, one enters the path of meditation. Therefore, in the nature of the four chapters of "Resting in Contemplation," the place to practice, the person who practices, the method of how to practice, and the samadhi to be practiced are well explained in order. In this way, when practicing the path, it is necessary to focus on explaining that one is not attached to all dharmas and has no clinging. Therefore, in order to help with this, in the nature of the eight chapters of "Resting in Illusion," which extensively clarifies the order of conduct, the eight examples of illusion completely and accurately explain how to practice all dharmas and cultivate them in order. There are three points to be determined by refutation. The first is to refute "Resting the Mind Itself." Why? It is unreasonable to say that your treatise is called "Resting the Mind Itself," because the mind itself has neither rest nor fatigue. He replied: In general, the term "mind itself" can be applied to both the grasper and the basis. If it is based on the grasper, then the mind itself needs to rest, because the mind and mental factors are the cause of samsara, and are the conceptualizations of the three realms.
