Well versed in upholding vows, understanding the principles of both the Lesser and Greater Vehicles. Skilled in comprehending the nature of the causal Vehicle, the Three Baskets of teachings, and the resultant Vehicle of Secret Mantra, the four or six classes of Tantras. Well trained in the stages of listening, contemplating, and meditating. Empowered in the areas of explaining, debating, and composing. Adorned with the sublime qualities of view, realization, and samadhi. Abiding in the supreme palace of the King of Vehicles, dwelling in the utterly peaceful, correct absorption. Having donned the armor of diligence in benefiting oneself and others through compassion. Thus, this greatly learned Dharma speaker is named Discipline and Wisdom. The Dharma is the essence of all Vehicles gathered into one, the path of cause and effect without error, leading all faculties upward in stages, the limbs of the path not relying on others. Listening dispels the darkness of ignorance, contemplation realizes the intent of reality, meditation liberates into the expanse of Dharmata, explanation increases the wisdom of oneself and others, listening causes the lotus of intelligence to blossom, seeing exhausts the obscurations of afflictions, and analysis attains the enlightenment of the path of liberation. Like a vast ocean perfectly adorned with a great collection of immeasurable qualities. This is the instruction manual of the Great Vehicle, called the Three Sections on Rest. The method of how to teach and listen is as follows: For the Dharma speaker, generate the perception of a skilled doctor; for the Dharma, generate the perception of medicine; for oneself, generate the perception of a sick person, and then listen with respect. As stated in the Heap of Jewels Sutra: "Son of good family, you should generate the perception of yourself as a sick person, generate the perception of the Dharma as medicine, generate the perception of the virtuous friend as the king of doctors, and generate the perception of diligent practice as nursing the illness." This will be explained in detail below. To ascertain the structure of the teachings: First, how the Teacher taught the Three Turnings of the Wheel of Dharma; second, how the Arhats compiled the teachings; and finally, how the treatise writers composed the treatises. These are explained in three ways, as mentioned above. These are the words for determining the method of explanation. Second, there are three aspects to how to teach and listen.

。讲解者是导师的自性,听讲者是弟子的自性,共同要做的事情的自性。第一种情况如《经庄严论》中所说:“善知识调伏寂静极寂静,功德勤奋尤以圣教富,通达难解真实善巧说,慈悲为性离忧倦当依。”就像这样,身语意寂静且善于调伏,功德和精进巨大,比听闻更精通于圣教之处,善于开示深奥之义且慈悲心大,对于讲经说法能忍受困难,就是这样。第二种情况是对佛法和上师恭敬,具有追求意义的特殊意愿,因此能够修持佛法。如导师释迦光尊者所说:“恭敬上师戒律极清净,禅定以及念诵常精进,谨慎调柔且具足忍辱,安住律仪具法善宣说。”就像这样。因此,也要使自己远离容器的三种过失和六种垢染来听闻。三种过失是,像容器口朝下一样,不把耳朵放在词句的意义上,因此一点也抓不住;像底部有洞的容器一样,即使抓住了也不认真彻底地去做,因此证悟不稳固;像有毒的容器一样,即使抓住了也没有出离心和菩提心的摄持,因此不能成为烦恼的对治,反而成为烦恼的助伴。要断除这些来听闻,如经中所说:“比丘们,好好地、完全地听,并且记在心里,我将为你们开示。”就像这样。好好地听能消除有毒的过失。完全地听能消除口朝下的过失。记在心里能消除底部有洞的过失。六种垢染如《辨别论》中所说:“我慢以及不信,不求意义无意念,外散内收及厌倦,以是垢染而听闻。”也就是说,听法时,具有高人一等的我慢,以及打扮妖娆、坐在高高的座位上等等;对佛法、道友和上师不信任而听闻;对佛法没有追求意义的意愿;眼睛、耳朵和意识等感官向外境散乱;昏沉睡眠等内心收摄;

. The explainer is the nature of the teacher, the listener is the nature of the student, and the common activity is the nature of the task. The first is from the Ornament of the Sutras: "A spiritual friend is disciplined, peaceful, very peaceful, virtuous, diligent, especially rich in scripture, skilled in speaking about the difficult reality to realize, possesses loving-kindness, and relies on abandoning weariness." Like this, body, speech, and mind are peaceful and well-controlled, virtue and diligence are great, especially skilled in the place of scripture from great learning, skilled in showing the profound meaning and great compassion, able to endure difficulties in teaching the Dharma, that is how it is. The second is to respect the Dharma and the lama, and to have a special desire to seek meaning, so that one can practice the Dharma. As the teacher Shakya Light said: "Respect the lama, the precepts are completely pure, meditation and recitation are always diligent, be careful, gentle, and endowed with patience, abide in the precepts, and the Dharma is well spoken." Like this. Therefore, one must also listen by making oneself free from the three faults and six stains of the vessel. The three faults are like a vessel with its mouth facing down, not paying attention to the meaning of the words, so not grasping anything at all; like a vessel with a hole in the bottom, even if grasped, not doing it diligently and thoroughly, so realization is not stable; like a poisonous vessel, even if grasped, not being held by renunciation and bodhicitta, so not becoming an antidote to afflictions, but becoming a companion to afflictions. One must listen by abandoning these, as the sutra says: "Monks, listen well, listen completely, and keep it in mind, and I will show it to you." Like this. Listening well eliminates the fault of poison. Listening completely eliminates the fault of the mouth facing down. Keeping it in mind eliminates the fault of the hole in the bottom. The six stains are as stated in the Explanation of Knowledge: "Pride and disbelief, not seeking meaning, outward scattering and inward gathering, listening with weariness are stains." That is, when listening to the Dharma, having arrogance of superiority, as well as dressing coquettishly, sitting on a high seat, and so on; listening without trusting the Dharma, friends, and lamas; not having the desire to seek meaning in the Dharma; the senses such as eyes, ears, and mind scattering to external objects; the mind gathering inward with drowsiness and sleep;
