The refutation and establishment of the ground are meaningless. Understand that all sounds are like echoes. One should train to know that praise and blame from others are equal, like an echo. As the Intermediate Mother Sutra says: Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if others slander or defame him with harsh words, or even insult or displease him, whatever the words may be, he should contemplate that all those sounds are without self-nature, like an echo. Thus it is. Among them, the door of anger arises from unpleasant words, so it should also be realized by knowing its lack of self-nature. Anger and other minds, they are not in place or direction. When appearing without existence, they cannot be found even when sought. Dependent arising is empty, like the sound of an echo, and the words of others are also dependent arising, like an echo. If analyzed, it is only an image that appears without existence. If analyzed very finely, it is unreal like space. Without good or bad, win or loss, gain or harm, one should not grasp sounds as real, they are empty of truth. Understand that all are like echoes. Also, when others speak badly, the words are not inside or outside, so there is no need to be displeased. Negative thoughts have no color or substance, so they are not established as a cause of harm, therefore there is no need for displeasure. Because one thinks that others say such things about oneself, one should first know that it is self-harm. In the intangible emptiness of one's own sound, there is not even a particle of win or loss, so one should take the principle of hearing emptiness, self-extinction, and tracelessness as the path. As Shantideva said: This thing is empty in nature, what is there to gain or lose? What is there to be happy or angry about? Everything is like space, I shall take it as such. One should know it as such. The result is: By this, one can extinguish the initial habits of samsara, and especially extinguish the fire of anger and hatred. One obtains the patience of the noble ones, and does not fall into the lower realms. Gradually, one can approach the fortune of the Buddhas. The night is as before, especially experiencing the state of echoes. Fame is empty, and one obtains patience in the Dharma. Therefore, one should practice the meaning of echoes. If one becomes extremely accustomed to it during the day, one will also realize it as an echo in dreams. When obtaining manifestations and transformations as before

For the time being, all anger is pacified by the forbearance that accords with sound. The Ratnakuta Sutra says: 'Light Protector, whichever Bodhisattva realizes that all dharmas are like echoes, obtains the forbearance that accords with sound. They do not rejoice in enemies, do not get angry at the words of others, and are not afraid even when hearing the dharma of emptiness. This is the first forbearance that accords with sound.' Peaceful, undisturbed, uncompounded particles. The great ocean of qualities, in the sacred ocean of patience, a great ship of samadhi is well prepared, may all beings travel the path of liberation. In the vast sky of pure faith, great clouds of wisdom gather and flash with lightning, with the constant rain of the peaceful Dharma, may the crops of fortunate disciples grow. The tree of compassion has branches of benefit and happiness, flowers of samadhi, excellent fruits of wisdom, with the cool shade of the four means of gathering, and the pleasant fragrance, may the flocks of birds of beings' minds rejoice greatly. From the Great Perfection, the Resting in Illusion, the chapter like Sound and Image is the commentary on the Sixth Vajra Place. Thus, after showing that all dharmas are impermanent, to show that appearance is without inherent existence, and that the nature of different meanings is not established, again, here the Victorious One said, 'Like a Gandharva city,' what is said is also said for meditation, listen. All dharmas, as they appear, are without support, like a Gandharva city. The Middle Length Prajnaparamita Sutra says: 'Subhuti, all dharmas are without place, without support, because they are unborn by nature, like a Gandharva city.' The meaning of what is said is that after determining the three natures of the ground, path, and fruit, first the ground is explained. The original luminosity, the dharma that appears in the sky, a city adorned with spontaneously accomplished qualities, without beginning, end, middle, or limit, abides here. The ground, the original awareness, in the realm of emptiness like the sky, the city of spontaneously accomplished qualities naturally appears, which is the body and wisdom that are inherently present in the realm. Abiding from beginningless to endless, as before, so it is afterwards. The Suchness that does not change. Thus it is said. The Uttaratantra says: Form
