Tormented by suffering, distressed by discomfort, and appearing due to the long bardo, the clinging to self, the small fundamental ignorance, arises from the ignorance of complete imputation, and the habituation of grasping and being grasped as the cause, with different karmas as the condition. The delusion of the container and contents of various appearances, pervading limitlessly like the sky, arises from subtle roots. Upon further examination, it culminates in the nature of rootlessness, the completely pure nature of mind. As the Guhyagarbha Tantra says, "The rootless nature of mind is the root of all phenomena." Therefore, since the ground and root are subtle and invisible, like the turbidity in water, it is shown to be clear by remaining as it is. If one realizes that this appearing delusion is unreal, and manifests without action like the sky, then from the realm of unreal appearances like an eye-flower, do not grasp at a meaningless self, but remain as it is. No one abandons an eye-flower, and just as a distorted form distorts itself, this deluded appearance of samsara cannot be abandoned because it has no substance. When grasping is reversed, self-nature is realized, and when grasping remains as it is, it is realization. As the sutra says, "When all perceptions are destroyed, how can there be grasping or being grasped?" Whatever appears is shown to be beyond thought, speech, and objectification: it is suchness, it is primordial, it is primordially pure. Do not grasp anywhere, do not conceptualize anything. What use is a box of sectarian bias for appearances whose essence is unrecognizable? Therefore, abandon all deliberate objectification, and know that whatever appears is empty of truth. All phenomena of existence and appearance are empty of essence, like an eye-flower. Abandon all partiality, such as acceptance and rejection, clinging to truth, attachment and aversion, etc., as in worldly appearances, and cause and effect, appearance and emptiness, two truths, aggregates, elements, and sense bases, as in sectarian appearances. Although it appears in awareness, do not engage in grasping at the appearance, but know it as self-luminous, naked, and clear. This is the meaning of abiding. As the "Treasury of Unborn Jewels" says, "Do not conceptualize anywhere, do not think of anything, do not fabricate, rest in natural relaxation. That which is unfabricated is the unborn treasure, the footsteps of all the Buddhas of the three times." The ground has been established. Next is taking the path into experience: thus, all phenomena are like eye-flowers.

Having realized thus, settle the mind as it is on the meaning of mind-essence. The preliminary practice is the same as before, supplicate like an illusion. Meditating on all phenomena as appearing but without inherent existence, abiding in equanimity, also as previously explained, practice Guru Yoga, and supplicate to accomplish the nature of illusion. The preliminary practice should be supplication. Then, the main practice is to meditate on all phenomena as illusions: Form is empty of truth, like an illusion; sound is empty of sounding, like an illusion; smell, taste, and touch are also like illusions; mind and phenomena are also like illusions; in the nature of anything without truth, the mind also relaxes and abides without clinging. The six objects such as form, the six faculties such as the eye, the six consciousnesses such as eye consciousness, and all phenomena of appearance and conceptualization, all are like illusions, abiding in the nature of non-truth without memory or thought. As it says in the sutra: "Whatever is attended to is unwholesome. Whatever is not attended to is wholesome. Whatever is without memory and without attention is the meaning of recollecting the Buddha." The practice of yoga at night is: Just as when sleeping during the day, also hold the mind in the heart, and sleep in the nature where all phenomena are like illusions. Dreams and so on will definitely appear as before. Sleeping in the sphere of five lights in the heart, in the nature of limitlessness, in dreams, realizing phenomena as illusions, and manifestations and transformations, etc., will appear as before. The fruit of practicing the path is: Experience, realization, appearance, or like an illusion, the realization that there is no truth in anything arises spontaneously. Non-clinging emptiness, destroying the illusion of affirmation and negation, eyes and clairvoyance, samadhi qualities are accomplished. It is the treasury of the Victorious Ones, guiding all beings. Therefore, meditate on the meaning of illusion. For this, temporarily realizing it as an illusion, and the mind that clings to the illusion of experience ceases, definitely liberating from samsara, samadhi is accomplished, therefore eyes and clairvoyance, and magical powers are accomplished. It says in the Compendium: "Through meditation, one abandons the desire for desirable qualities, wisdom and clairvoyance and samadhi are manifestly accomplished." Thus it is. Experience is like smoke.
