Having just emerged from there, . Seeing what looked like a good, shady pit, I entered. Inside the burning fire, flesh and bones were scorched. Thinking of escaping from that, it was like entering a flowing river. In the rotting mud, worms with iron beaks and so on pierced and caused suffering. After emerging from that, I went to a pleasant plain. Arriving at a razor, the moment my foot was placed, it was split in two. When lifted, it healed. After escaping from there, I went to a place where I saw a beautiful forest, and arriving at a sword, I was blown by the wind, my body was cut into pieces and then healed. After going from there, I saw men or women gathered on the top of a mountain calling out to me, and I climbed up. Iron hooks pierced my body, and when I reached the top, crows and vultures pecked at my brain. Seeing that the side of the mountain was calling again, I went there and was pierced upwards by hooks. Embracing the previous place, I turned into a burning iron man or woman, embracing tightly and burning and devouring. After going from there, I saw a beautiful river flowing from afar. The moment I jumped in, ashes covered my waist, flesh and bones were scorched, and after fleeing. On both sides appeared messengers of Yama guarding. Such suffering I had experienced many times before. Now thinking that I must definitely be freed from there, I practice with the complete three aspects of preparation, main practice, and conclusion. The Twenty-fifth Instruction Verse. Next is the suffering of the eight cold hells. In the midst of snow mountains, pillars, and hailstones. The place where blizzards arise is. Because of the danger of cold, blisters appear on the body, so it is called the Blister Hell. Blisters burst and turn into wounds, so it is called the Burst Blister Hell. Teeth chatter, so it is called the Chattering Teeth Hell. Uttering groans of "Achu Chu," so it is called the Achu Hell. Uttering the sound "Kyihud," so it is called the Kyihud Hell. Splitting into four petals like an Utpala flower, so it is called the Utpala-like Splitting Hell. Splitting into eight petals like a lotus, so it is called the Lotus-like Splitting Hell. Splitting into sixteen or thirty-two petals like a great lotus, so it is called the Great Lotus-like Splitting Hell. Inside the wounds that split open like that, tiny creatures enter and gnaw, thinking about the way of experiencing unbearable suffering from the cold. Now rejoicing that I have not been born in such a place, I should strive in Dharma.

Therefore, practice by possessing the three: preliminary, main practice, and subsequent practice. Twenty-sixth of the Instructions. Then, the temporary sufferings are: being squeezed inside rocks, freezing and stiffening in ice, being boiled in hot springs, suffering in cold winter water, being hot and burned in fire, and when the shape of trees is cut, the suffering of limbs being broken, and being born in shapes that are always used and utilized, such as cradles, doors, thresholds, pillars, stoves, and ropes, experiencing unbearable suffering due to karma, and suffering from the changing of day and night in iron houses, and so on. Thinking of being afflicted by various sufferings in places such as mountains and seashores, and in places like snow and ice, which are common to humans or elsewhere, thinking that one must avoid being born in such places, therefore practice by possessing the three: preliminary, main practice, and subsequent practice. Twenty-seventh of the Instructions. Then, the suffering of pretas is: those with external obscurations have emaciated bodies and thin limbs, cannot hear the sound of food and drink, and are always tormented by hunger and thirst, are harmed by others, and although they see unpleasant oceans and forests, they dry up as soon as they are seen. Those with internal obscurations have fire burning from their lungs and heart, and smoke billowing from their mouths and noses. Those with the obscuration of special burdens have many beings dwelling on the body of each preta, and they suffer from seeing them eating their own blood and flesh. Thinking that one must avoid being born in such places, therefore practice by the three: preliminary, main practice, and subsequent practice. Twenty-eighth of the Instructions. Then, the suffering of animals is: dwelling in the great ocean, and in the darkness between continents, there is only something like the dregs of beer, devouring each other, being ignorant and foolish, scattered everywhere, and even in the places of gods and humans, there are birds and deer, etc., suffering from being killed, used, beaten, fought over, and harmed, etc., there are countless sufferings. Thinking that one must avoid being born in such places, therefore practice by possessing the three: preliminary, main practice, and subsequent practice. Twenty-ninth of the Instructions. Then, the suffering of humans is being tormented by the three and eight sufferings,
