Homage to the Bodhi Tree of the Conquerors. Om Svasti Siddham. On the ground of the two accumulations, the wish-fulfilling tree of liberation; with boundless qualities, flowers and fruits abound; the cool shade of benefit and happiness pervades all realms of existence and peace. I pay homage to the Bodhi Tree of the Conquerors. The precious treasure of the sacred Dharma, both outer, inner, and secret; having reached the end of the path of ground, path, and fruition; the meaning of the supreme essence of the cause-and-effect, unsurpassable vehicle; I shall clearly explain the instruction manual of the three virtues. Herein, the outer common ground, the vehicle of characteristics, the initial virtue instruction; the inner special fruit, the secret mantra Vajrayana vehicle, the intermediate virtue instruction; the secret definitive meaning essence fruit, the Great Perfection unsurpassed vehicle, the final virtue instruction, these three are present. The first has two aspects: the lineage of the gurus and the practical instructions for practice. The first, in relation to the respective paths of the Great Vehicle, although I have heard many sequences, the essential points of the instructions are condensed into three: the lineage of gradually learning the teachings through vast conduct; the lineage of demonstrating the profound and extensive stages, paths, samadhi, heat; and the lineage of demonstrating the profound view of the nature of reality. The first is: Great Sage, Manjushri, Shantideva, Ela Dhari, Maha Shri, Ratna, Bhava Vajra, Dharma Kirti, Dipamkara, Sumati, Translator Lodro Sherab, Tse Pongwa Chokyi Lama, Chapha Chokyi Senge, Danbhakpa Darma Trashi, Sherab Lodro, Sherab Wangchuk, Sangye Tsondru, Wengewa Shakya Senge, Lhabrangpa Chopal Gyaltsen, Samyepa Tsultrim Lodro. The second is: Sage, Maitreya, Asanga, Vasubandhu, Arya Vimuktisena, Bhikshu Vimuktisena, Uttarasena, Vinayasena, Vairochana Zangpo, Senge Zangpo, Sangye Yeshe Shab, Guna Mitra, Ratna Parvata, Bumphrak Sumpa, Lodro Sherab, Dre Sherab War, Ar Jangchub Yeshe, Khu Sherab Tsondru, Karchung Ringmowa, Zhang Yepa, Nyalshik, Gya Chingrupa, Chumikpa Senge Pel, Lodrakpa. Among them are Tsangonpa and Wengewa.

Sa. To these two, Lhabrangpa and Chodrak, I met them. The third is: Buddha, Manjushri, Arya Nagarjuna, Chandrakirti, the Cuckoo of Wisdom, the elder Kusālīpa, the younger Kusālīpa, Jowo Je (Atisha), the Nepalese Thangpa Dza, Abhyākaragupta, Bodhisattva Dawa Gyaltsen, Drolungpa Chenpo, Spyiwo Lhasepa Jangchub Wo, Rma Shakya Senge, Chim Namkha Drak, Khenpo Mon Tsul, Abbot Jangchub Drub, Abbot Zhonnu Dorje. He passed it on to Samyepa Ngagi Wangpo. Furthermore, there is also the lineage of Jowo Kagyud, but it is not written down. Qualities are self-existent, bliss and excellence are complete. Auspicious and supreme, become the god of gods. The nature of compassion, possessing clouds of benefit and happiness. I respectfully prostrate to the assembly of glorious protectors and lamas. Regarding the instructions on practicing the two benefits, the difficulty of obtaining leisure and fortune, impermanence of life, suffering of samsara, karma and its results, relying on a virtuous spiritual friend, taking refuge, the four immeasurables, generating the mind of enlightenment and the precepts, these are the eight vajra topics. The first has ten: contemplating the essence of leisure, contemplating the distinction of fortune, contemplating the precipice of the lower realms, contemplating the example of difficulty to obtain, contemplating the distinction of order, contemplating meaningless waste, contemplating cause, condition, and interdependence, contemplating the cycle of birth and death, contemplating the praise of leisure and fortune, contemplating supreme joy and delight. The first is, contemplating the eight states of unfreedom, not having fallen into them oneself, thereby generating joy in having obtained leisure and fortune, and thus striving to practice the Dharma. If born in hell, experiencing the suffering of heat and cold, there is no opportunity to practice Dharma. If born as a hungry ghost, being burned by the fire of hunger and thirst, there is no opportunity to practice Dharma. If born as an animal, devouring each other and so forth, harming each other, there is no opportunity to practice Dharma. If born as a long-lived god, spending eons in a state of unconsciousness, seeing things reversed at the time of death, there is no opportunity to practice Dharma. If born in a border region, there is no light of the teachings, there is no opportunity to practice Dharma. If born as a non-Buddhist, due to wrong views, there is no opportunity to practice Dharma. If born in a dark age, the sound of the Three Jewels is not heard, there is no opportunity to practice Dharma.
