not become futile, and it is necessary to think that after obtaining the basis of independence, one must strive to practice Dharma. After doing the preliminary practices of taking refuge and generating Bodhicitta, repeatedly and earnestly meditate from the depths of your heart, then dedicate the merits and transform your actions into yoga. The Seventh Section of Instructions. Then contemplate the wheel of birth and death. Just as it is here, all sentient beings in the three realms and six classes experience the cycle of birth and death, each enduring their own suffering. However, even at this time, there is no end to liberation. Therefore, it is a pity that when leisure is obtained, it is not cherished and not used for Dharma practice. I should make leisure meaningful, thinking in this way, practice through the three aspects of preliminary practices, main practices, and subsequent practices. The Eighth Section of Instructions. Then contemplate the praise of leisure. The Arhats of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, and the Bodhi of the Buddhas, are all obtained from the basis of leisure. The great Dharma of Secret Mantra can only be accomplished through leisure. The basis of all the Dharma of the Great and Small Vehicles is said to be the supreme leisure. Therefore, I must also seize the path of liberation obtained from this leisure from now on. Thinking in this way, starting from the preliminary practice of generating Bodhicitta, contemplate repeatedly, and then dedicate the merits. The Ninth Section of Instructions. Then contemplate the supreme joy. After taking refuge and generating Bodhicitta, just like the joy of a poor person finding a treasure, observe the leisure you have obtained, wondering if it is a dream or if it is real. Generate great joy, repeatedly thinking that now you must practice the supreme Dharma, then dedicate the merits and transform your actions into yoga. The Tenth Section of Instructions. The second topic is contemplating the impermanence of life, which has twelve aspects: contemplating the aggregates as the basis and knowing impermanence, contemplating the lord of beings and knowing impermanence, contemplating the formation, dwelling, decay, and emptiness of the outer world and inner beings and knowing impermanence, contemplating the supreme person and knowing impermanence, contemplating the uncertainty of when death will occur and knowing impermanence, contemplating the nature of conditioned phenomena and knowing impermanence, contemplating the intense causes of death and knowing impermanence, contemplating going alone and knowing impermanence, contemplating the people of the times and knowing impermanence, contemplating the mind having no support and knowing impermanence, contemplating the uncertainty of the appearance of conditions and knowing impermanence, contemplating intense desires and knowing impermanence. First, one's own and others' bodies are composed of limbs and details.

Having observed, now providing suitable food and clothing, even if adorned and cleaned, when the time of death comes, naked and separated from clothes, being sent to an empty place, being eaten by foxes and vultures, limbs separating, and even bones turning into different fragments, when such a state exists, therefore, one should practice the holy Dharma right now, thinking in this way, practice with the completeness of the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. Eleventh Guiding Step. Then, thinking of the lords of beings, impermanence is like this: like the lord of the gods, Indra, Hundred Offerings, Ishvara, Vishnu, the great sage Vyasa, and ant-hill dwellers, etc., with beautiful forms, great splendor, life lasting for kalpas, great qualities of wisdom, possessing eyes and clairvoyance, possessing immeasurable magical powers, even they have a time of death, why wouldn't we like them die? Therefore, thinking of practicing the holy Dharma now, practice with the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. Twelfth Guiding Step. Then, thinking of the formation and destruction of the vessel and sentient realms, impermanence is like this: like the vessel world symbolized by mountains and villages, the sentient beings symbolized by men and women, all of these, in the face of the fire and the single great water that destroy the kalpa, when the state of being destroyed and empty exists, why wouldn't we like them die? Thinking in this way, practice with the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. Thirteenth Guiding Step. Then, thinking of the holy beings, impermanence is like this: like the seven Buddhas and their retinues, and the Pratyekabuddhas and their retinues in between, etc., also came and went one after another, and their teachings also went through endless processes of flourishing and declining, how could we and our retinues have permanence? Therefore, one should practice the holy Dharma right now, thinking in this way, with strong aspiration, practice with the completeness of the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. Fourteenth Guiding Step. Then, thinking of the uncertainty of the time of death, impermanence is like this: there is no increase in life, but decrease is approaching day and night, moment by moment, like black and white mice cutting the thread of a rope. Where death will occur is uncertain, and there are many causes of death, so thinking of when to die, practice with the completeness of the three aspects: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. Fifteenth Guiding Step. Then, thinking of the nature of conditioned phenomena,
