Appearance is of a nature that is free from all elaborations. Taking the mind's illusory appearance as the object of self-grasping, cutting it off into the categories of existence and non-existence, cutting off the characteristics of being uncompounded, it is merely appearing as the nature of conditioned appearance, sudden self-appearance, and the increase of habitual tendencies. At this time, one should know that what is grasped is the mind's illusory appearance, which is unreal. That is, the various white, red, and other colors that appear externally are like dreams, appearances that are the increase of habitual tendencies, appearing only to those who are intoxicated by the sleep of ignorance. In reality, there is not even a little that is established. Moreover, at the time of appearance, it is not the mind, because size, shape, identification, and so on are contrary to the nature and substance of the mind. It is also not other than the mind, because it is merely an illusory appearance, and no other truth is established. The appearance in the mind is merely the habitual appearance of the increase of habitual tendencies that have been passed down from beginningless time, like the appearance of the habitual tendencies of seeing illusions in a magic show appearing in last night's dream. Therefore, however it may appear, it is the clear appearance of non-existence. Like dreams, illusions, mirages, echoes, cataracts, water moons, emanations, and the cities of gandharvas, without support, without location, without nature, without identification, it is merely the clear appearance of the nature of emptiness. Thinking in this way, for oneself and others, enemies and friends, places and villages, dwellings, food and drink, enjoyment, eating and sleeping, going and staying, and so on, whatever one does or whatever appears, one should practice clearly recognizing the unreality, and cultivate it with the complete three aspects of preparation, main practice, and conclusion. This is the one hundred and fourteenth instruction. The one hundred and fifteenth instruction. Then, if one examines, the emptiness of no object that is pointed out is: In this way, all appearances, if analyzed into coarse and fine particles, because nothing indivisible is established, form is empty. If analyzed by color and identification, sound is empty. If analyzed by shape and essence, smell is empty. If analyzed by experiential parts, taste is empty. If analyzed by special sense sources, touch is empty. Although appearances as objects are different, the nature of emptiness is the same in characteristics. Therefore, the emptiness of different objects does not have separate boundaries, like the purity of space, it is not different, it is the nature of transcending one.

Therefore, on the self-nature of the emptiness of the essence of the realm of appearance, practice with the complete three aspects of application, main practice, and subsequent practice. This is the one hundred and sixteenth instruction. Then, to show that grasping is baseless and rootless, there are two aspects. The first is to show that consciousness is self-illuminating and without support: Like this, the five that appear as forms and so on are the five sense consciousnesses. The general meaning is that the mind is blessed and made into an object, which is the consciousness of the mind. Knowing attachment and aversion in affirmation and negation is the consciousness of afflicted mind. The intermediate is made into an object, which is the consciousness of the mind, born from the six aggregates. The non-conceptual, self-illuminating, and unrelated to objects is the alaya consciousness. At the time of the eight or six aggregates, no matter what the aspect of consciousness is perceived as, it is clear, bright, unsupported, and self-illuminating. Although it appears clearly, it has no substance. It is non-existent and appears, like pure space and dustless hail. Because the clear part abides in itself, it is like the sky clearing of clouds. Because the moving part is not an identifiable thing, it is like the wind. From the time of appearing as grasping, it is self-liberated and unidentifiable. Look at the time of appearance, look at the time of abiding, and even after releasing the ordinary, look at the appearance of grasping itself. There is no clear appearance, emptiness is inseparable, and it is realized as the nature of mere self-illumination and no support. This is also practiced with the complete three aspects of application, main practice, and subsequent practice. This is the one hundred and seventeenth instruction. Then, to show that analysis is rootless and empty: Like that, the self-illuminating and unsupported consciousness is also on the outer appearance, the inner aggregates, the intermediate movement, and the self-abiding consciousness itself. By analyzing and examining the shape, color, the three of arising, ceasing, and abiding, and the identification of the essence, it is not established in any essence, and it is realized as rootless, unsupported, and the way of abiding that is free from the extremes of existence and non-existence. At these times, only devotion to the lama is important. This is the one hundred and eighteenth instruction. The second meaning is that there are two aspects of cultivating ease in meditation. The first is a general explanation of the meditation methods of the three faculties, which is related to understanding the view of the scriptures. Therefore, for the sake of easy understanding, the faculties are also explained starting from the best. However, here, based on the order of entry, the meditation methods of the lower, middle, and upper faculties are explained in order.
