Gapa Nyid. From the Kunje Gyalpo Sutra: Hey! Great Vajra Hero, meditate now! For the Dharma-nature Bodhi, which is without acceptance or rejection, Residing like the sky, body and mind are not to be fabricated. Without concepts and attachments, so there is no need to meditate. Like the sky, utterly peaceful, free from all impurities, Not entering into objects, free from the object of conceptual focus. Thus it is. Abiding in effortless spontaneity, Which is abiding in freedom from affirmation, negation, hope, and fear. Like the steadfast and immovable King of Mountains, Abide in freedom from affirmation, negation, hope, and fear. The mind does not waver, like the King of Mountains, abide in a state without conceptual thoughts of affirmation and negation. From the Kunje Gyalpo Sutra: Hey! Teacher of teachers, the King of All-Creating, Having severed the bonds of both through realization, By abiding in the meaning of non-contradiction and equality, The intention of Kunje, I, is spontaneously accomplished. Whoever severs the bonds through realization, Does not enter liberation, does not take Nirvana, Does not cling to the partiality of the meaning of the essence, Does not meditate on the meaning, does not enter the realm of compassion. Thus it is. Abiding in unobstructed appearance, Which is abiding in the self-clarity of the five senses. Like a clear and bright mirror, Abide in unobstructed appearance, like an image. The mind is in a clear and pure state, for the appearances of the sense faculties, do not be distracted by the chaotic appearances, do not grasp at conceptualizations, abide in that state. From the Kunje Gyalpo Sutra: Hey! Therefore, Vajra Hero, meditate on that! Self-arisen wisdom transcends all objects, Through realization, do not make the object the purpose, Because it transcends objects, do not guard consciousness, Do not meditate on the essence that is clear as an entity, Because the aspect is clear as the essence, there is no hope or fear. Thus it is. Abiding in primordial liberation, pure and clear, Which is abiding in pure clarity, unpolluted by antidotes. Like primordial liberation, remaining as it is, like a rainbow, Without sinking or excitement, abide in pure clarity. The mind is in a clear and pure state, abide without sinking or excitement. From the Kunje Gyalpo Sutra: Hey! Vajra Hero, meditate well now! Because the meaning of unborn purity appears, Therefore, do not see appearance as an entity, do not destroy it, Because appearance is unborn and self-liberated, Therefore, do not meditate on emptiness, liberate through realizing as it is. Thus abiding, therefore know appearance as emptiness, know it like a rainbow. Abiding like an archer focused on the target, Which is abiding in focus without distraction. Not going to

Like an archer, place the inherent wisdom in a state free from contraction and expansion. Abide the mind in the nature of reality, without distraction, like an archer aiming an arrow at the target, as it is said in the *Kun byed*: Thus, in the essence of no meditation, hold it with undistracted mindfulness, that is the oral instruction. Thus, abide in effortless spontaneous accomplishment. Like gaining freedom from comfort, like gaining freedom from decisive wisdom, place hope and doubt in a state free from both, spontaneously accomplished. Abide the mind in its own nature, from the decisiveness of the dharmakaya abiding in its own place, in the state of no hope and doubt externally, naturally relax and abide, as it is said in the *Kun byed*: O yogi who enters and practices this path, immediately abide in the state of the victorious ones. Do not grasp at thoughts, there is no partiality or grasping. Entering and not entering the essential path are both transcended. Thus. That is, relax the three doors and abide in a state of non-distraction. There is no need to be too attentive. If you are too lax and distracted, you will fall into ordinariness, therefore, you must also abide the ordinary awareness in a natural, undistracted state. As it is said in that scripture: O teacher of teachers, Samantabhadra, in the nature of reality, which is without meditation or thought, not abiding in thought, letting it pass away, is samsara itself. Seeking and practicing is the path of conceptual appearances. Thus. How to practice? As it is said in that scripture: O Bodhisattva Vajra, practice as it is. Do not adorn your body, do not dull your senses, do not restrain your speech, there is nothing to do or seek. Do not fix your mind anywhere, abide in an unmoving state. By practicing this effortless activity, all purposes will be accomplished without effort. Thus it is said. It also says: O fortunate one who enters yoga at once, if the intention of Samantabhadra has been shown, from the realm of realization, remember and familiarize yourself with it, then show the teaching of no practice and no entry. Thus. Summarizing the meaning with eight ways of abiding: Thus, the manner of the eight ways of abiding, this is the samadhi of self-purification. It is the union of shamatha and vipashyana. Abiding in the state of no birth is shamatha. Clarity and emptiness, free from elaboration, is vipashyana. Undifferentiated essence, one taste, is the union. That is, because there is no grasping or rejection, it is the samadhi of self-purification, that is, the manner of the union of shamatha and vipashyana. The aspect of abiding in reality is shamatha, at that time.
