The path of ease, the place of utmost joy, faith, diligence, mindfulness, wisdom, and samadhi are also joyful. Those who have thoroughly trained themselves well meditate on the seven branches of perfect enlightenment. As such, in the culmination of the great and supreme Dharma, the arising of the wisdom of the path of seeing is the nature of sixteen moments. Each of the truths of suffering, origin, cessation, and path possesses the forbearance of the Dharma-knowledge, the Dharma-knowledge, the forbearance of the subsequent knowledge, and the subsequent knowledge, which are the nature of four each. The Ornament for Clear Realization states: "On the truths such as suffering, Dharma-knowledge and subsequent knowledge, forbearance and knowledge, this nature of moments, is the activity of the path of seeing in the mode of all-knowing." And its commentary states: "On each truth, there is the forbearance of the Dharma-knowledge, the Dharma-knowledge, the forbearance of the subsequent knowledge, and the subsequent knowledge. Thus, the nature of sixteen moments is the path of seeing in the context of all-knowing." Moreover, the physical basis for the arising of this wisdom is the same as the great and supreme Dharma, therefore it can be any of the six types of beings, not like the view of the Hearers. The mental basis is the four dhyanas. The cause is the ultimate supreme Dharma, which is the direct cause and the indirect cause of the collection of auxiliary conditions. The result is the generation of the latter two paths. In terms of its essence, depending on the distinction of the four truths, it relies on abandoning the defilements of the realms, hence it is sixteen moments. Among the defilements and the antidotes, the former includes the five views: the view of the aggregates, the view of extremes, the wrong view, the view of holding views as supreme, and the view of holding vows and observances as supreme, as well as the five non-views: desire, anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt. These ten, in the desire realm, each of the four truths gives rise to ten afflictions in a distorted manner, hence there are forty. In the two upper realms, each of the four truths gives rise to nine distorted afflictions, excluding anger, hence there are seventy-two. Thus, the one hundred and twelve afflictions included in what is to be abandoned by seeing. The Compendium of Topics states: "The one hundred and twelve afflictions are the types of afflictions to be abandoned by seeing." In the four dhyana grounds and the four formless absorptions, anger does not arise because of the pacification of the continuum.

Because it has been moistened, everything feels painful, and there are no nine roots of anger. The nine are: I have been harmed in the past, I am being harmed now, and I will be harmed in the future, these are three thoughts. Similarly, there are three for relatives. Hoping that my enemies will benefit, etc., there are three, making a total of nine. The way these afflictions lead one astray, taking the truth of suffering as an example, is: The view of the aggregates holds the truth of suffering as self and mine. The extreme view holds the truth of suffering as existent or nonexistent, permanent or impermanent. The wrong view holds that the truth of suffering does not exist. Ignorance intervenes without understanding the nature of the truth of suffering. Doubt intervenes while doubting whether these five aggregates are the truth of suffering. For these five ways of intervening, attachment clings and is attached. Pride is arrogant and conceited. View of holding views as supreme holds it as the most supreme. View of holding ethics and asceticism as supreme holds it as the path of purification and liberation. Anger makes the mind angry at things that are inconsistent with these five ways of intervening. Just as it is with suffering, it should be understood that the remaining truths also intervene in the same way. This is intervening by focusing on the name of the truth of cessation, not focusing on its meaning. The difference in antidotes is: By seeing the afflictions of all three realms, all that should be abandoned is completely abandoned. That is, the four truths of suffering, origin, cessation, and path, the forbearance of knowing the Dharma, are the same substance of wisdom, but conversely, they are four parts that depend on each of the four truths, so when it arises in one instant, the antidote that eradicates the seeds of what is to be abandoned on the path of seeing from the root is the uninterrupted path. Therefore, the one hundred and twelve things to be abandoned on the path of seeing are abandoned in an instant. That is, the immediate cause of the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of each of the four truths, and the two who are capable of being abandoned as its nature, meet. In the second moment, the actual cause and the two who are incapable of being abandoned as its nature meet. In the third moment, the arising of the four Dharma forbearances and the simultaneous cessation of all the subtle seeds of what is to be abandoned as its nature are abandoned in a way that occurs simultaneously. As stated in the Uttaratantra: Just as sprouts and others arise in sequence, cutting the seed and the husk, so it is.
