and clinging to self, making it meaningless, that is, sentient beings are troubled by happiness and suffering, clinging to reality like a dream. In the Song of the Inexhaustible Treasury, it says: I have done my best, but the children are exhausted. Thus it is said. In fact, when it appears, when it appears in awareness, it has already transcended the limits of emptiness and elaboration. As it says in the King of Samadhi Sutra: The sons of the Victorious One destroy things, all existence is completely empty. Do not argue with the heretics who cling to the emptiness of permanence, and the foolish wise men. Thus it is said. In fact, existence and non-existence, right and wrong, truth and falsehood, purity and impurity, all are doctrines conceived by the mind, therefore, for the sake of the completely imputed, they should be abandoned. As it says in the same sutra: Those with discrimination have named existence and non-existence, thus contemplation does not pacify suffering. Existence and non-existence are both extremes. Purity and impurity are also extremes, the wise do not abide in the middle way. Thus it is said. And in the Sutra of the Unreturning Wheel, it says: Existence is one extreme, non-existence is the second. That is, self and non-self are the same, permanence and annihilation are the same. Thus it is said. Like this, being bound by one's own discriminating doctrines, as it says in the Lankavatara Sutra: Clinging to the sound of knowing things, like a silkworm making a cocoon. Children who are not skilled in connecting, are bound by their own inferior doctrines. Thus it is said. Therefore, all dharmas are dependently originated at all times, unborn, unceasing, uncoming, ungoing, not one, not different, not discontinuous, not permanent, one should realize that all elaboration is the nature of peaceful cessation. As it says in the Root Wisdom: By what cause does dependent origination arise, unceasing, unborn, undestroyed, unpermanent, uncoming, ungoing, not different, not one, pacifying elaboration and showing peace. I prostrate to the supreme ones of those who speak of the perfect Buddha. Thus it is taught. In short, the nature of all dharmas is primordially pure, which is called the nature of dependent origination or the basis of dependent origination. Now I will explain the dependent origination of samsara, that is, the appearance of external objects, the objects of the mind, mountains and walls.

and earth, water, fire, wind, appearing as forms of space, represented by what is known as "arising" or "form of arising." Like cloth, the making of ropes, wool, felt, etc., from cause and condition, producing similar or dissimilar forms of things, all of this is called external dependent origination, that is, arising in dependence on each other, because it appears externally and manifests as a material form. The arising from ignorance to action, and then to old age and death, is internal dependent origination. As it says in the Lankavatara Sutra: "Great Wisdom, just as pottery arises from a lump of clay, cloth arises from rope, felt arises from wool, sprouts arise from seeds, ghee and so on arise from human effort, and butter arises from yogurt, these are, Great Wisdom, external dependent origination, the later arising from the former. Internal dependent origination is like this: from ignorance and craving, these dharmas and so on arise, and they obtain the name of internal dependent origination." That is to say, first not knowing the true face of one's own inherent wisdom, this is great ignorance. From that, fabricating existence, from consciousness to old age and death, arising in dependence on each other and without interruption, as it says in the Letter to a Friend: "From ignorance arises action, from action arises consciousness, from consciousness arises name and form, from name and form arises the six senses, from the six senses arises contact, so said the Buddha. From contact arises feeling, from feeling arises craving, from craving arises grasping, from grasping arises existence, from existence arises birth. If there is birth, there will be sorrow, aging, and the poverty of desire, death, and fears, etc., a very great heap of suffering will arise." So it is said. If divided in detail, there are twelve links. The first link, ignorance, is not understanding the nature of reality, which is inherently pure, and the nature of the dharmas it represents, therefore, it creates the karma of samsara, so action is related. That is to say, the virtuous merit of body, speech, and mind, obscured by ignorance
