Therefore, unhappiness is making oneself unhappy. Others' words do not transfer to oneself, so there is no sting. But because one accepts it, it becomes that way. If unhappiness is not created, it is like having no benefit or harm. Therefore, all happiness and unhappiness are like the appearances of the previous moment that has ceased, like yesterday and all previous sights, and like last night's dream, which will not return after disappearing, cannot be identified, has no self-nature, and is equal. Therefore, anger is without foundation. Similarly, today's appearances are like tonight's dream, so one should not cling to happiness and sadness as being real. Thinking about whether there is a remedy Furthermore, when something undesirable happens to oneself, one becomes unhappy. If there is a remedy, why is unhappiness needed? If there is not, unhappiness is useless, so what is the use? Therefore, endure all circumstances and strive diligently. Like this, when something desirable or undesirable happens, if it can be remedied, strive to find a method. Unhappiness will not help. If it cannot be remedied, the matter has already passed, so unhappiness is meaningless. Because unhappiness cannot reverse what has already happened. The Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra says: If there is a remedy, why is unhappiness needed? If there is no remedy, what good does unhappiness do? Therefore, since sentient beings act according to their own karma, one should not be patient even for the sake of relatives such as parents, or for the sake of attendants. Even for the sake of the teacher, abbot, lama, or the Three Jewels, one should not be angry with others. Because if harm is caused, one cannot prevent the consequences. If no harm is caused, one should not do it. Others' praise or criticism cannot cause great benefit or harm. Showing that the nature of anger is emptiness Furthermore, if one investigates what the essence of those unpleasant sounds and harms is, one will find that they are like space, the nature of emptiness. There is no like or dislike, no gain or loss, no good or bad. Clinging to duality is meaningless. Therefore, strive to abide in the state of equality of all things. Like this, the form that causes harm and one's own form cannot be divided into indivisible particles, so the harmer and the harmed cannot be established. The minds of both cannot be found inside or outside, so the harmer and the harmed cannot be established. If one investigates his words, one cannot find any essence, so the harmer, the harm, and the object of harm are all empty.

Because for me, there is no liking or disliking, no good or bad, no losing or gaining. Although it appears like harm, it is not established in essence, so like illusion and optical illusion, etc., in the relative truth, they are like the eight similes of illusion. In the ultimate truth, one should cultivate patience like the sky. As it is said in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way": "If you understand this way, you will not be angry at all things that are like illusions." Also, if you examine the meaning of emptiness that is originally unborn, then, in the same treatise, it says: "Since all things are empty, what is gained and what is lost?" It also says: "What is there to be unhappy about, what is there to be happy about? If you search in that." Until "Everything is like the sky, we should completely accept it." Like that. If you cultivate with various methods, you can achieve patience effortlessly. As it is said in the same treatise: "Whatever thing, once accustomed to, does not become easy." Like that. If you get used to it like this, you can be friendly with everyone in this life, and be happy because you are pleasing. In the next life, you can also obtain excellent good destinies and achieve enlightenment. Also, in the same treatise, it says: "From making sentient beings happy, let alone achieving Buddhahood in the future? Why don't you see the great wealth, fame, and happiness in this very life? In samsara, adorned with patience, etc., as well as being free from illness and having fame, you can live very long and obtain the happiness and prosperity of a universal monarch." Like that. There are also four kinds of diligence, among which, identifying the person is: Now I will explain the perfection of diligence. Person. For the nature of diligence, he is happy to do good. For him, virtuous dharmas gather like inexhaustible clouds. Like bees in a fragrant lotus grove. It is said like that. That is also what the sutra says: "Diligence dwells in enlightenment, non-diligence does not dwell. Diligence gathers all virtues, diligence increases qualities." Like that. Explaining the opposing side is: Diligence. What is its opposing side? Three kinds of laziness. Attachment to evil deeds, laziness, despising oneself. Unable to accomplish good deeds, the root of all evils arises. Perfection declines, and degeneration arises. That is also, laziness will increase evil and decrease good, and ideas cannot be realized. If you distinguish, then being distracted by affairs that interrupt the holy Dharma, such as engaging in buying and selling, agriculture, divination, etc., is the laziness of attachment to evil deeds. Seeing difficulties, you are sure not to succeed.
