One must also understand all the parts. In short, if a fault arises, it should be prohibited according to any rule; if virtues generate goodness, it is allowed to be done, so it is important to know the magnitude of the precepts and what is allowed and prohibited, and to know what is general and what is specific. As it says in the "Ratnavali": "The specific is excluded from the general. All the treatises praise it." In short, guarding one's mind from all sinful actions and guarding one's mind for the benefit of others is the Pratimoksha vow. Generating virtues that are not yet generated and increasing those that are already generated, which are included in the two accumulations and the six perfections, is the discipline of accumulating good dharmas, which is mainly included in the training of the mind. Skillfully accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings directly or indirectly, making others happy with the four objects of collection, temporarily attaining higher realms, and ultimately surely obtaining the seeds of goodness, and being happy to accomplish the happiness of others, is the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. These three disciplines accomplish the three trainings of the path, complete the two accumulations, and at the time of attaining Buddhahood, the Pratimoksha vow obtains the perfection of abandonment, abandoning the two obscurations and their habitual tendencies. The discipline of accumulating good dharmas obtains the perfection of realization, such as knowing the nature and extent of things. The discipline of benefiting sentient beings obtains the perfection of activity, which is the cause of spontaneously accomplishing the two benefits in a way that is appropriate for those who should be tamed. As it says in the "Ratnakuta Sutra": "Subhuti, the discipline of a Bodhisattva is of three types: the Pratimoksha vow, the discipline of accumulating good dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. Among them, the Pratimoksha vow is to guard one's mind from non-virtue. The discipline of protecting good dharmas is to manifestly accomplish the roots of virtue. The discipline of benefiting sentient beings is to be happy to benefit others." These are also as stated in the "Ornament of the Sutras": "The six branches are pacified and held by Samadhi. Abiding in the happy realms is a giver. It is a support, peaceful, without fear, possessing the accumulation of merit, observing and discriminating the Dharma.

One obtains it oneself. It exists for those who abide in discipline. Having fully understood such discipline, the wise will practice it correctly. Thus it is said. Its essence is having six branches, namely, abiding in discipline, being restrained by the vows of individual liberation, having perfect rituals, having perfect conduct, regarding even the slightest fault as a place of fear, and properly taking up and studying the objects of training, as explained in the "Ground of Hearers." The cause is attaining peaceful nirvana. The result is abiding in happy realms. The function is to be the basis of all qualities. Also, it pacifies afflictions and makes oneself and others fearless. The merit is having a collection of merit. The classification is that which is properly taken up and arises from expression, and that which is obtained by the nature of reality. The former is individual liberation. That which is obtained by the nature of reality has two types: that which arises from meditative concentration and that which is without outflows, namely, obtaining the mind of the actual basis of meditative concentration, and obtaining the ground of the noble ones, such as the path of seeing, which is without outflows. As the Treasury says: "Vows are called individual liberation, likewise, meditative concentration arises without outflows." Thus it is said. These are without degeneration, unmixed with hearers and solitary realizers, unstained by transgressions, and not inferior because they are Mahayana. Having four qualities is precisely what should be generated as the basis of qualities. The Letter to a Friend says: "You should rely on discipline that is not ruined, not inferior, unmixed, and unstained. Like the earth, which is the cause and non-cause, it is well said to be the root of all qualities." Thus it is said. Such are the qualities of discipline. As the Ornament of the Sutras says: "The sons of the Victorious One always take up the three disciplines of vows, diligence, and nature. They do not desire the heavenly realms, and even if they attain them, they do not generate attachment to them. By that very discipline, they also place all beings in the three enlightenments. Because they are completely possessed by the wisdom of discipline, they establish an inexhaustible treasure in the world." Thus it is said. Regarding patience, there are also seven. The general explanation of the classification is: Thereafter, the perfection of patience is: For various sufferings of harm, internal and external, If one does not think of them and with compassion thinks of the Dharma, One should also cultivate the three kinds of patience without object. Thus, when harm or injury, etc., is done by others
