That which is fearless, accomplishes the meaning of sentient beings, and always takes only benefit as important, makes human life meaningful. Thus, from the moment of obtaining the generation of Bodhicitta, until that mind is not lost, it is called a Bodhisattva. One should not let one's own virtues decline, but should increase them, should cultivate immeasurable joy, and should actually or indirectly accomplish the meaning of sentient beings, and even if one cannot, one should make aspirations. As it is said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "Thus, the wise, having well grasped, the supreme Bodhicitta, in order to increase it, should praise their own mind in this way: Today my life has fruit, I have well obtained this human body, today I am born into the Buddha family, today I have become a son of the Buddha. Now I should strive to act in accordance with my family, and be careful not to defile this immaculate and noble family. Like a blind man in a pile of dung, suddenly finding a precious jewel, how fortunate am I that Bodhicitta has arisen in me." Thus. If asked how many kinds of names there are for a Bodhisattva, there are sixteen kinds. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Bodhisattva, great-hearted one, wise one and supreme light, son of the Buddha, cause of the Buddha, victorious one, sprout of the Buddha, powerful one and supreme person, guide and supreme fame, compassionate one and great merit, powerful one, thus endowed with Dharma." Thus, as soon as one obtains the generation of the mind, the benefits of the mind of Bodhi are also extensively spoken of. That is also in the forty-fourth chapter of the Avatamsaka Sutra, Sudhana, after generating the mind towards Manjushri, went from the south to the south in order to seek his teachings. Maitreya, on the shore of the southern ocean, in a palace called "Essence of Adornment with Various Illuminations," was teaching the Dharma to a retinue of hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattvas. Sudhana, seeing it from a distance of five hundred yojanas, made prostrations with joy, satisfaction, and delight. Maitreya, having seen him, extended his right arm and placed it on the crown of Sudhana's head, and in a manner of showing off to the retinue, proclaimed the praises of Sudhana. La

Look, this completely pure mind! Norzang, son of extremely stable wealth! Seeking the supreme Bodhi conduct, The wise one, you have come near to me. Thus he spoke. Have you come well, compassionate and loving one? Have you come well into the vast mandala of love? Have you come well, you who are most peaceful to behold? Have you not become weary when practicing? Thus and so on he spoke. Norzang, with palms joined, asked: Holy one, I have truly entered into unsurpassed Bodhi, but I do not know how to diligently practice the conduct of a Bodhisattva, please teach me. He replied: Son of good family, you are completely held by a spiritual friend. Why is that? Son of good family, the mind of Bodhi is like the seed of all the Buddha's teachings. It is like the field for the complete increase of all beings' white Dharma. Thus, from the example of plants and jewels, nearly three hundred and fifty benefits are actually proclaimed. He said that it possesses these benefits and also immeasurable others. See the sutra itself for details. Sixth, there are three stages of learning. The way to enter the subject is: Thus, after generating the mind, the order of how to diligently apply oneself to its training will be explained. The way to enter the subject is: This is on the ground of pure and virtuous mind, The two sprouts of Bodhicitta are well generated, Strive to protect and purify and increase them. By generating the mind of enlightenment again on the mind of clear light, it becomes even more pure. Demons and opponents cannot interrupt it. In the Sutra of Ten Dharmas it says: A precious jewel, by its very nature, Is a source of blazing light. If it is cleaned and polished, It becomes twice as beautiful. Likewise, one with good lineage Seeks the mind of enlightenment, With both extremes completely purified, Demons do not arise in the field of activity. Thus. Having generated the sprout of such a mind, one should strive only by means of protecting that mind from deteriorating, purifying defilements, and increasing virtue. These are also accomplished mainly by learning the vows of supremely guarding the mind. From the Bodhicaryavatara: Thus
