Please bless me. Please regard this moment with compassion. Please grant me empowerment and blessings. Please grant me supreme and common accomplishments. Please eliminate obstacles, evil guidance, and hindrances. May all my wishes be fulfilled in this life, and may there be no suffering at the time of death. May I be liberated from all the fears of the bardo. Please lead me to the Aogmin realm. Like this, pray seven times during the four sessions of day and night. By doing so, all violations will be purified, and supreme and common accomplishments will be quickly attained. There is no more profound key than this for making up for violations. Accepting the Conduct of Respect: Other rules of conduct include: When seeing the lama, stand up and prostrate; when the lama is seated, offer cushions and other necessary items; praise with pleasant words and join palms; when the lama departs, stand up, serve, and attend with respect. Prepare the lama's seat, praise and join palms, and stand up to greet and see off the lama when he comes and goes. This is stated in the Vinaya Sutra: "As soon as you see the Khenpo, you should stand up from your seat." If you do not stand up, you will be born as a cripple for five hundred lifetimes, as stated in the Karma Shataka. If you stand up and serve, you will obtain the marks and signs, as stated in the commentary on the Ornament of Clear Realization: "Merely by seeing off and welcoming the lama, one will possess the marks of the wheel on the hands and feet." Cultivating Mindfulness, Awareness, and Vigilance: In this way, when associating with the lama, always maintain mindfulness, awareness, and vigilance, and abide with respect and reverence. Like a new bride, abide in the presence of the lama with the tranquility of the three doors. Do not be frivolous, distracted, or arrogant. Do not be biased, and do not act for profit or fame. Do not be deceitful, nor put on airs. Do not be two-faced, and do not have favoritism or aversion. That is to say, when sitting in the presence of the lama, maintain mindfulness, restrain all misconduct of body, speech, and mind, and maintain awareness, observe the mind with the mind, and do not be controlled by afflictions. Maintain vigilance, like a new bride or a newly ordained monk, accomplish your wishes with peace and gentleness. The Bodhicharyavatara states: If the mind's drunken elephant is tied up,

Like the great pillars of the earth, how to bind them so they don't fall? Everyone should observe with effort like that. It is imperative to use a focused mind, not to let go even for a moment, how should I tame my mind? Like that, observe each separately in your mind. For those who wish to guard their minds, Mindfulness and awareness, even if life is at stake, guard them, I am like that, Lamo combines. Even when alone in one's own dwelling, one should not act carelessly, but must be held by mindfulness and awareness, because those with divine eyes, such as the Buddhas, can see even when obscured. As it says in that very text: The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, all possess unobstructed vision, before all of them, I always abide therein. Thinking thus, generate shame, reverence and fear in those places. Furthermore, at other times and in other circumstances, one should also keep the mind from being distracted from virtue. As it says in that very text: Various kinds of joking words, and many wondrous spectacles, when engaging in all of them, one should abandon attachment to them. Meaningless digging of earth, cutting grass, etc., and drawing patterns on the ground, etc., after remembering the Sugata's teachings, immediately abandon them with fear. Whenever one wishes to walk, or wishes to speak, first examine one's own mind, and then act firmly and with reason. Whenever one's own mind is greedy, or wishes to be angry, one should not act, one should not speak, one should abide like a log of wood. Accompanied by frivolity and distraction, or when full of arrogance and pride, the thought of exposing others' faults, or the thought of stinginess and deceit, whenever one praises oneself and rejoices, and when disparaging others, stinginess accompanied by miserliness, at that time one should abide like a log of wood. Greedy for gain and respect, or seeking servants and retinue, if one's own mind desires service, at that time one should abide like a log of wood. Abandoning the thought of benefiting others, and wishing to pursue one's own benefit, if the thought of wanting to speak arises, at that time one should abide like a log of wood. The fear of unbearable laziness, likewise, recklessness and falsehoods, etc., if one's own biased mind arises, at that time one should abide like a log of wood. Thus, from all defile
