By being disturbed by..., ignorance in the formless becomes extremely hard and solid. Thus it is. Thus, from the Tathagatagarbha, when deluded, the nature of the mind itself, which is primordially pure, without change, called the Alaya-vijnana of conjoining meaning, from the nature of the Dharmakaya, the Rupakaya and the pure lands, and the perfect wisdom, all these are obscured by the ignorance that is deluded into grasping and grasper, and from beginningless time, on the Alaya-vijnana with various habitual tendencies, the seeds of various deluded habitual tendencies are planted. By the power of whichever is stronger, one experiences happiness and suffering, etc., separately. When wandering as in a dream, one grasps at self and what belongs to self, practices the five poisons of attachment and aversion, karma and habitual tendencies, etc., deluded without meaning, engages in various forms of clinging to reality, and day and night, in the wheel of deluded appearances, one revolves without ceasing. Because the continuum is without a basis, it is like being deluded from not being liberated from delusion, like the example of delusion in a dream, tormented by happiness and suffering, wandering aimlessly. Like a prince wandering in a foreign land, suffering from being separated from the kingdom, because he was born into a royal family, he inherently has happiness, but it is only temporary suffering. This is what the example shows. As it says in the "Song of the Inexhaustible Treasury of Instructions": Those who are entangled by the creeper of existence, greatly crave the wilderness of grasping at self. Like a young prince without support, separated from his father, without the opportunity for happiness, he becomes a pain in the heart. Thus it is. Thus, at the time of wandering meaninglessly in the wilderness of existence, as previously shown, the Tathagatagarbha is truly existent as it is. As it says in the "Tathagatagarbha Sutra": O son of the Victorious One, for example, there is a great cloth the size of a three-thousand great thousand world system, and on that great cloth, all of the three-thousand great thousand world system is completely drawn, that is, the Chakravada mountain is drawn in the size of the Chakravada mountain, the great earth is drawn in the size of the great earth, the two-thousand intermediate world system is drawn in the size of the two-thousand intermediate world system, the thousand world system is drawn in the size of the thousand world system.

As for the thousand worlds, the measure of the four-continent world is the four-continent world, the measure of the great ocean is the great ocean, the measure of Jambudvipa is Jambudvipa, the measure of the eastern Videha is the eastern Videha, the measure of the western Godaniya is the western Godaniya, the measure of the northern Kuru is the northern Kuru, the measure of Mount Meru is Mount Meru, the measure of the palace of the earth-dwelling gods is the palace of the earth-dwelling gods, the measure of the palace of the desire realm gods is the palace of the desire realm gods, the measure of the palace of the form realm gods is the palace of the form realm gods. That great banner also became the measure of the three-thousand great-thousand world system, and that great banner was also placed into a single atom. Just as that great banner was placed into a single atom, so too, into all the remaining atoms, a great banner of that measure was placed. Then, from the wise, virtuous, and clear mind, some individuals arose who were close and possessed of conduct, whose eyes became divine eyes, completely pure and radiantly clear. They looked with divine eyes and saw that this great banner existed in this tiny atom and was of no use to some sentient beings. They thought, "Alas, who can split this atom with the power and strength of great diligence, so that this great banner may become the sustenance of all beings?" Then, they generated the power of great diligence and split that atom with a vajra particle, and as they wished, that great banner became the sustenance of all beings. Just as it was done to one atom, so it was done in the same way to all the remaining atoms. Hey, sons of the Victorious Ones! Likewise, the immeasurable wisdom of the Tathagata, which is the wisdom that benefits all sentient beings, also (exists) in the mind.
