The self-arisen is naturally present. Although it exists at all times, it is not seen now. Just as one does not clearly see one's own state during sleep. Do not cling to meaningless, contrived, and defiled phenomena. Train the mind's own clear light. Hold the attainment of the two benefits for oneself and others. These are the kinds of things. If all beings have such a nature, why do they wander in samsara? The answer is: Because they do not recognize this state and grasp at what is meaningless as self, which is the cause. Afflictions continue one after another, and bad friends, poverty, and being under the control of others are the conditions, hence samsara itself. The Ornament of the Sutras says: "Afflictions, habits, and bad friends, poverty and the power of others, in short, the faults of the lineage, should be known as four aspects." Also, the Light Sequence says: "The original clear light itself is ignorance. In the mind, there is attachment to 'I' as self, and to objects as 'other.' By grasping in this way, beings wander in the realm of existence, experiencing various joys and sorrows according to their actions." Also, the All-Creating King says: "Wonderful and marvelous is this play, abiding like the actionless sky. Because of ignorance, nothing is perceived. Immediately, it arises from itself. This is the path of equality for all. It naturally abides in all beings. Because it is obscured by delusion, it is confused." And: "When the light of the directions gathers, the four directions, intermediate directions, above and below are formed. In the uncertain rainbow colors, the distinctions of the lineages are clearly seen. Likewise, the moving and unmoving particles are greater than the five elements." It is said that the original mind-essence is clear light, the spontaneously arisen wisdom of emptiness and clarity. Its essence is emptiness, like the sky. Its nature is clarity, like the sun and moon. The radiance of its compassion is unceasing, like the surface of a clean mirror. The nature of the three kayas—dharmakaya, sambhogakaya, and nirmanakaya—is the essence of the Sugata, without limitation or bias in samsara or nirvana. In this state, the essence of emptiness opens the door to manifestation. The nature of clarity causes the five self-arisen lights to appear as objects. It is believed that compassion, the wisdom of discernment, arises as discriminating consciousness and is mistaken. The Secret Essence says: "Emaho! From the essence of the Sugata, one is deluded by one's own thoughts." At that time, from the aspect of not knowing one's own wisdom,

It is called coemergent ignorance. From the perspective of grasping self-appearance as other-appearance, it is called imputational ignorance. Because of not understanding that it arises from the nature of reality, and clinging to the object of self-grasping, the outer container world and the inner sentient beings, each with their own ripened habitual body and mind, are confused into various forms of the five poisons. In the Sarva-karmāṇi ( सर्वकर्माणि , Sarva-karmāṇi, All Actions), it is also said: "Sarva-karmāṇi I do not recognize my own nature, I make definite observations on the Dharma made by me, and appearances are established due to greed and attachment. The nature of impermanence and illusion will eventually perish. It is the nature of an undivided blind person." Thus. Therefore, the root is confused by self-born ignorance. In the Compendium, it is said: "Sentient beings, inferior, middling, and superior, as many as there are, all of them arise from ignorance, as the Sugata said." Thus. Also, it is confused by the cause of dualistic grasping. In the Eight Thousand Verses, it is said: "Due to grasping at self and grasping at mine, sentient beings wander in samsara." And in the Twenty Thousand Verses, it is also said: "The various childish beings perceive aggregates where there are no aggregates, perceive elements where there are no elements, perceive sense bases where there are no sense bases, and perceive dependent origination where there is no dependent origination. All these dharmas are completely grasped by the ripening of the karma of inverted dependent origination." Thus. How does it arise? From the two kinds of ignorance, actions are produced, and from this, the existence that is transmitted to each sentient being, as well as name and form, etc., are established. From the state of being tender, etc., until birth, after the body is established, the twelve branches between touch, feeling, the six sense bases, and old age and death, revolve, hence it is called samsara. Then, the initial reality is not established as samsara, and the idea that it should not reasonably become samsara from the nature of the Tathagatagarbha is incorrect. Just as clear water is not turbid and is clear and transparent, but due to the wind in winter, it solidifies into hard ice, like the nature of stone. In the initial nature, due to the cause of arising the grasper and the grasped, various hard illusions appear. In the practice song called Doha Treasury, it is said: "When the wind enters the water and stirs it, the soft water also becomes like the shape of a stone."
