Those who touch the body say it is like a pillar. Those who touch the tail say it is like a rope. Although the blind people do not say anything other than the elephant, they do not fully understand it. Similarly, the Buddha's nature is also, although emptiness, illusion-like, luminosity, etc. are said to be different, it is not fully understood. Moreover, even if the noble Bodhisattvas understand a little, they do not know it as it is. In the Nirvana Sutra, it says: 'Good son, for example, a blind man went to a skilled doctor to treat his eyes. The doctor took a golden knife, cut open the cataract of the eye, and showed him one finger, but the blind man said he could not see it. When he showed him two or three fingers, he could see it a little. Good son, if this Great Nirvana Sutra is not spoken, then countless Bodhisattvas, even if they have perfected the Paramitas and abide in the ten Bhumis, will not see the Buddha's nature like that. If the Tathagata proclaims it, they will be able to see it a little.' From the birds flying in the sky, it is necessary to distinguish whether it is the sky or something else, when flowers bloom on the top of a tree, it is necessary to distinguish whether it is water or a tree, from the mast of a ship at sea, it is necessary to distinguish whether it is the mast or the sky, etc. From the metaphors, one can see the essence a little, but the principle of not seeing it definitively. In this way, if one cannot see that subtle and difficult-to-distinguish essence during the time of sentient beings, then what is the necessity of teaching it? Because it teaches that there is the Buddha's essence in one's own and others' continuums, it can prevent oneself from being discouraged, and one knows that there is no difficulty in achieving liberation and feels joy. It prevents one from despising other sentient beings, and one respects all sentient beings equally like the teacher. It prevents one from not understanding the true meaning, that is, the secret intention of the body and wisdom existing in oneself, thereby generating the wisdom of realizing the ultimate truth. Because one understands such reality, one can prevent the slander of existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, thereby generating the wisdom of realizing the true meaning. It prevents self-righteousness and special attachment, thereby treating oneself and others equally.

It shows that there are five necessities for generating great love for others from seeing pictures. From the Uttaratantra: Like clouds, dreams, and illusions, all knowable things are empty in every way. Having said that, why do the Buddhas say here that sentient beings have the essence of the Tathagata? In response to the question, it is said: To abandon the five faults of discouragement, despising inferior beings, applying what is not true to the true Dharma, and excessive attachment to self. In order to generate the five qualities of Dharma that are free from the five faults, such as joy and reverence like a teacher, wisdom, prajna, and great compassion, in order to generate these five Dharmas, there is no fault in them, like looking at equality. For those who distort their bodies, cover their faces with a golden net of distorted thoughts, and turn their backs on the meaning of the definitive sutras and tantras, the meaning of the essence is the provisional meaning, which is said with the consideration that if the cause is used, the result will occur. If it is not like that, it will become like the permanent self of the Tirthikas. It is absolutely certain that the two bodies of the Buddha are also born from the two accumulations. Like a beautiful lotus, a network of lotuses. It is true that you do not even understand the intention of the three turnings of the Dharma wheel spoken by the Blessed One. You are only clinging to the extreme of emptiness. Thus, the first turning of the Dharma wheel is spoken to beginners and those of inferior faculties, in order to turn away from samsara by making the four truths the objects to be abandoned and cultivated, it is the method of liberation from the objects to be abandoned. The middle is completely purified, and spoken to those of intermediate faculties, in order to be liberated from the bondage of clinging to antidotes, the eight similes of illusion and emptiness like the sky are shown. Finally, for those who have reached the ultimate and those with sharp faculties, the nature of knowable things is spoken as it is. This is not the same as the self of the Tirthikas, because they do not understand but falsely claim to have a self, which is itself a fabrication of nature, and they measure it by size and do not accept it as the Dharma of body and wisdom. Your clinging to selflessness and emptiness is only an antidote to self and non-emptiness, it is not the definitive meaning, it is Nirvana.
