The lineage, which exists in all sentient beings. As the Uttaratantra states: "Because the complete Buddha body manifests, and because that nature is without difference, and because there is lineage, all sentient beings constantly possess the essence of the Tathagata." It is also said that this is the beginningless Dharmadhatu of goodness, which is enlightened from the very beginning. As the Name Praise says: "Buddha has no beginning and no end, the first Buddha is without distinction." And as the Two Examinations say: "Sentient beings are indeed Buddhas, but they are obscured by adventitious stains. Removing them is indeed the true Buddha." This is the meaning. When one is a sentient being, the Dharma nature of the mind, in terms of appearance, is fully endowed with the qualities of the Rupakaya, and in terms of emptiness, is fully endowed with the qualities of the Dharmakaya. However, because it is obscured by defilements, it cannot be manifested directly, so it is called Dhatu or Lineage. When one becomes a Buddha, although it is said to be Bodhi because it is free from all defilements, its essence is only the complete manifestation or non-manifestation of the power of the mind itself. If one thinks that the qualities that were not present in the beginning when one was a sentient being were newly created later, then it is not so. Because it is immutable. As it is said, the Sutra Revealing the Essence says: "The realm of beginningless time is the abode of all Dharmas. Because of this, all beings and the attainment of Nirvana exist. As it was before, so it is later, the unchanging Suchness." Thus. The Dharma nature of that mind, the nature of luminosity, is not stained by afflictions. As the Uttaratantra states: "The nature of the mind is luminosity, which is immutable like the sky. Attachment, etc., arising from untrue thoughts, adventitious stains do not defile it." Thus. It can also be divided into the lineage that abides naturally from the beginning, and the lineage that arises from practice, which depends on temporarily removing defilements. The nature can also be divided into the lineage of the emptiness of mind itself, free from the extremes of elaboration, the Dharma nature abiding as nature, which becomes the cause of the Dharmakaya; and the lineage of the nature of phenomena abiding as nature, which becomes the cause of the excellent Rupakaya. From beginningless time, phenomena abide in Dharma nature, as the Nirvana Sutra says: "Son of lineage, thus the Dharma nature of the mind, naturally luminous, naturally the essence"
